My wife and I was watching a deep sea discovery show when she reminded me of a trip that we took many years ago to Florida. We went out on a party barge fishing boat where they bait you hook and all. Well, I caught the biggest fish of my life, so I thought. I hooked something and I was everything I could do to hold the rod. I would pull with everything I had then what I had gained it would take it back. This went on for a few minutes and I was so excited!!!!! We had seen some very large fish swimming and I knew I had caught one of those monsters!!! Well, then out bait boy came over without saying anything and cut my line. I was like what the ......! He asked if I thought I had a monster and I said YEAH!! Then he said so did the guy on the other side of the boat!!!! LOL!!! Just thought I had to share that one with ya!!

The only time that I fished in saltwater was on a party boat like you described. On one particular spot, 4 of us hooked into big fish and the mate cut off 3 of the lines and was heading for the fourth guy (who had brought his own rod and reel) who told him to stay away from him. The guy landed a 19 pound Cobia. After that fish came on board, the bell rung, everyone had to reel up their lines to move to a different spot. I could almost hear the commercial guys coming to the spot that we just left. I'll never do that again.

I went one time with my Uncle and cousin. We had a great day catching fish kept taking the baskets of fish back to put on our assigned stringers. Which was good till the end and found out my uncle had put the best load on another guys stringer. It was funny seeing his face and hearing everyone congratulate him. My uncle was too embarrassed to say anything. We still took home 4 stringers.

They saw a few large fish and didn't want us to put in. they said that catching that type of fish usually resulted in many tangled lines that we were not allow to try to catch them.
