Last week was high pressure with lots of sun and little or no wind. I caught a lot of LM around docks on both lakes. Tubes and shakey worms in natural colors worked well. Would also pitch a jig or lizard into laydowns. There are still quite a few fish very shallow. The spinner bait and shallow crankbaits are other options if you get some clouds and/or wind. Can't help you on the crappie or cats, but they should be available as well. Good luck!

I was out on Loudon today. My fish are suspened in about 20 to 30 ft. over 70 to 80 ft. If I was just going fishing, you can't beat the docks. Fish with pop-r, spook jr., and floating worm around the dock and hold on.emoSmile emoCool

You've got some bass info. already so I'll try to help with a couple of the others. Crappie can be had on the usual stuff-minnows, tubes, grubs, small cranks. Loudon has some good crappie as there seems to have been more crappie fishermen out for them this year than I've seen in the last ten. Prater flats (Ish Creek) is a popular spot. Casting minnows, tubes, etc. under a bobber is good. I prefer to vertical jig so I'm not the expert on that. I use tubes in any color w/chart. tails. Black/chart., red/chart. and since you're in Knoxville, home of the might Vols- orange/chart. I like to fish docks just because I tend to catch more fish and less snags than in laydowns. I love crappie fishing but switch to bass in temps like now. Loudon is a great catfish lake. I don't do it much, but I should. The best is to catch some of the large skipjacks that stack up under the dams when they're generating in the evening and use them as cut bait. You can catch the bait on small spoons, jigs, stuff like that and rip them along the top of the surface in the eddy areas from the bank or boat you can always use a cast net. Bluegill, hooked behind the dorsal fin and fished near the bottom work well too. Your friend should like Loudon. It's not 3 miles deep like some of the Western lakes but there are plenty of fish to catch. Good luck!
