found a 1989 lowe aluminum flat bottom boat 14ft. in great shape. has a 25 horse evinrude. small trolling motor. wide 100 humingbird fish finder. deck in front and back with seats. looks like new. the guy wants 3000$ i think it's a bit high but i know i could use it without dumping money in it everytime i use it except for gas. it's on a trailer also. please let me know if i'm absolutely crazy for paying 3000$ for this or if it's remotely close to being worth it. thanks

last year I paid 2900 for a 1994 smokercraft 17.5 ft boat with a 50 hp jet motor. Now it had been sitting so I had to take care of cleaning the carbs and changing the impeller also I put on a new depthfinder as I was unhappy with the one it had. I would say right now you could probably do a little better then that in the 3000 range. That being said if it fits the bill for what you want to do you can't hardly go wrong.

I agree with you on it being high. Its about to be prime time boat buying season and most folks selling them know that. I have not seen the boat yet so I may be way off...but it sounds like more than I would ever pay for a '89 14 ft boat and 25 hp. What year is the motor? I basically gave away my 14ft alumacraft and '69 evinrude to a cousin so I am biased that there are some good deals on boats to be discovered.

I frequently see good deals on small jon boats all the time in the classifieds and ebay. My advice is to take your time and get the motor checked out, compression, and whatever else the experts recommend. It took me a couple months to decide on my current boat.

Good Luck!

$3,000 for that model of a flat bottom has got to be a joke. I sold that year model Vision bass boat with motorguide brute TM and drive-on trailer for $750.00. It needed an engine. The boat did not have a scratch on it and everything on it worked perfect.. If you are for real, Do not give $3,000.00 for that $1,800.00max boat.

Ok. You asked. You'd be absolutely crazy for paying $3000 for this boat. $1800 is too much also. We're talking about a 14 ft boat after all. I know you're anxious to get on the water brother but be patient.

My dad bought a boat off of ebay last fall for 2,700 ,it has a 50 horse mercury, foot controlled trolling motor, hummingbird matrix fish finder,cd /radio player,6 speakers, livewell and everything works like a charm. I advise you to look around. You will definately find a better deal.

For 3 grand you could easily find a decent, albeit old, bass boat with 100-150 horses. That thing is waaaaay overpriced. You could get a lot more boat for that kind of money.

I looked up the NADA value using my best guess. The high average was $1200 boat/motor/trailer only. Keep in mind that electronics older than 5 years carry little value. I would say if it were in GREAT shape $1500 would be fair.

Its not a flat bottom, but I'm looking at getting a 93' 26foot partybarge for $2500 with a 60 Johnson. Runs great, but needs some aphoustery work. Sounds high for a flat bottom with that kind of age on it.

Ram Jack Scott... go to this Link: http://tinyurl.com/fsp4q

NADA guide where you can check out the legitimate price estimate on a used boat, just like you would with a used car. Using the VERY sparse info from your post I figure the boat, motor, trailer and accessories you named might sell between $1,500 and $2,000?

On the other hand, anything is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. And as a professional "impulse buyer," I well understand how when something catches your eye, sometimes you've just got to have it no matter what the cost. Good luck in your search.

I hope Ram Jack is as impressed as I am with the quality of the replies you guys are giving him.

I'm going to have one ready in a month or so that you may be interested in. I'm doing some minor things to it now to get ready. i plan on asking around $3k for it, just depends on how much I end up with in it. It's a 17'6" '85 venture with a Mariner 150 on it.

I bought a 1989 astroglass 17.5 with 150hp erude, trolling motor,, 2 depthfinders ready to fish for 2000 back at the end of Oct 06 from a member of CFF, so yes that is high.. mine was a killer deal, but they have killer deals on here alot .. heck someone even gave a bass boat away on here couple weeks ago!

Now see here what CFF can do for you.. This is one example of the many advanteges of being a member of CFF. That fellow saved himself from being robbed. Job well done CFF.

I'm looking to buy a boat in the next year or so, so this information helped me as well. I'm hoping to find the right deal on CFF maybe eventually, because I know CFF guys take care of their stuff.

I asked Liveliner about an EBAY ad, and he flat out told me the boat was over priced. I was glad to have his honest advice.

Don't be afraid to ask for help on here, there are tons of guys with knowledge that can't be matched anywhere else.

I am glad that you took my advice and did not bid on that boat there Sam.emoRedface I found that auction and bought that boat. I'll take you out in it soon. I love it better than my big o Proline. J/KemoLaugh
