I think I have an addiction to crappie fishing. I got done with a few things I had to do this morning earlier than I expected and thought I would run out to the lake and check on some bass. I bumped into two guys right off that were not doing any good crappie fishing and I told them I would show them what to do. To my amazement the crappie where I was just killing them were gone...or at least they were not biting. I managed about three dinks. I tried two more places with them following me and nothing. I apoligized and told them I must be full of it but the crappie were there a couple day ago. I told them I would find them and come back to let them know as soon as I did. Well I found them and they were SHALLOW!!!!! Only about three to four feet. emoEek I went back to tell them and they were gone. Now by this time it had been about an hour and I thought what the heck, I might as well crappie fish after doing all that to find them. I went back and from about 11 to 3 I boated around 50 to 60 crappie with 12 big slabs. I did not look at any close ones just the slabs. I bumped into a family of three, mom, dad and daughter and they only had five small keepers. Told me they were trying to get a mess. emoRolleyes Well they ended up having 17 with 12 big slabs.emoSmile Man... that is fun to do that but I still have not been bass fishing.emoDoh Jmax

Man, that right there is awesome. I am planning on going to Weiss Saturday, and I hope that they are shallow as well, there. :)

What did you catch them on? Any specific colors?

I usually use red/chartruse but someone on here said to use orange/chartruse so I have been using that color for the last couple of weeks. I think it may have been Rsimms that said it so I tried it and it did seem they hit it harder in that color. I am still doing the slow fall with 10 lb test on a bait caster and a 1/16th oz jig head casting it out. I had another fellow stop and ask if I was one of "Those CFF Guys" and I said yes. He said he had fished one of the CFFs and remembered my boat.emoBigsmile Jmax

Great day Jmax. I know you made someone happy with those 12 slabs. As they say it's "more blessed to give than to receive". I hope to catch a few tomorrow.

You guys just keep on messin with me! I read this stuff, run up into the creek, strike out or catch dinks and then after hours, I go back to the bays and get my fish. The reason I go to the creek, Besides the fact that you guys report stuff like this, is because that is the way I prefer to fish for Crappie in the first place.

Jmax, I see where you have been fishing "LOL" I find those Christmas colored tubes where you lost them.

I am planning to get out there this evening to try and find crappie in the creek, again.emoRolleyes

Jmax, the older you get the better that you will love Crappie fishing. Take it from someone who loved bass fishing just as much as you do. You might have learned the orange/chartreuse thing from one of my posts. It is one of my favorite colors this time of year.

Gator and I are going for the limit today in just a few minutes. Can't wait. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
