FREAK ACCIDENTS DO HAPPEN

HEY GUYS AND GALS I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE THAT HAPPEN LAST WEEKEND AT THE SATURDAY DOGFIGHT OUT OF CHESTER FROST.LET ME GO BACK A FEW WEEKS HERE.I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A VERY PREPARED PERSON WHEN IT COMES TO ALL MY FISHING EQUIPMENT BOAT,MOTOR,RODS ,REELS,TACKLE ETC.I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING ON MY BOAT INSIDE AND OUT.THIS BOAT IS A 88 BULLET 19VEE WITH A 200+ MERC THAT I THOUGHT WAS MECHANICALLY SOUND.TOURNAMENT READY.THE LAST MAJOR PROJECT I HAD LEFT WAS THE STEERING.WELL I BOUGHT THAT ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF.WHICH I DID A GOOD JOB AT.ANYWAY BACK TO WHAT HAPPENED.ME AND MY BUDDY ZACH WENT OVER TO PAY EXPECTING A DECENT DAY.WE ALL LINED UP OUTSIDE CHESTER FROST AS NORMAL.WE THOUGHT SOMEONE MIGHT BE ON OUR FISH SO I WAS GONNA HAMMER DOWN AND GET THERE QUICKLY .WELL GARYS PARTENER WAVED EVERYONE OFF AND WE WERE OFF.WELL WE ONLY MADE IT ABOUT 3OO YARDS AND 70+ WHEN ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE.THE STEERING THAT I JUST BOUGHT HAS BROKEN WHILE WE ARE A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.I HAPPENED SO FAST I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TIME TO REACT.IT LITERALLY TOSSED US LIKE TO RAG DOLLS.ME AND MY BUDDY ARE FINE JUST OUR EGOS ARE HURT.I DONT KNOW IF WE ABOUT GOT RUN OVER OR WHAT.IT WAS REALLY SCARY.THE BOAT CAME REALLY CLOSE TO FLIPPING.MY BUDDYS HEAD AS UNDERWATER FOR AT LEAST 10 SECONDS.WHEN IT WAS ALL OVER WE WERE ALIVE.THANKS TO THE MAN ABOVE.SO THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS THE NEW STEERING IT JUST INSTALLED A WHILE AGO.THE STEERING BROKE INSIDE WHAT THE CALL THE HELM.SO I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST.BITH ME AND MY BUDDY ARE VERY THANKFUL THAT WE WERENT HURT.THE BRAND OF STEERING WAS CALLED PRE-TECH.THIS STUFF IS JUNK DONT BUY IT YOU MIGHT GET HURT.ANYWAY I HAVE SOME SEASTAR HYDRALIC PRO STEERING ON THE WAY SO THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.SO EVERYONE JUST REMEMBER ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN NO MATTER HOW NEW OR OLD YOUR BOAT IS.ALWAYS WEAR YOU LIFE JACKET AND KILL SWITCH IT MIGHT SAVE YOU LIFE.... Glad ya'll are ok! Thats one of the things that can happen at any time. Sommetimes we just take everything for granted. Be careful out there.

YES WE ARE VERY LUCKY TO BE HERE.YOU WOULD BELIVE THE G'S ON YOU WHEN THT HAPPENS.ALWAYS DO A LITTLE LOOK AROUND AT THINGS ON YOUR BOAT BEFORE YOU GO

I had that happen at 20mph and it was rough enough i could not imagine 70mph.

YES THE STEERING WAS 2 MONTHS OLD AND WAS A DUAL CABLE SYSTEM.I HAVE TALKED TO SOME KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE ABOUT THIS AND RACK OR ROTARY STEERING IS NOT SO RELIABLE AT THESE SPEEDS.TO MUCH CAN FAIL INSIDE THE HELM.IF YOU HAVE RACK STEERING AND YOU GO 70MPH YOU BETTER GET IT OUT AND GO HYDRALIC STEERING.ANYWAY JUST MY TWO CENTS.BE SAFE EVERYONE

Wow! I'm glad you boys are okay. I was with Chris in his bullet when his old steering actually froze up, it was a dual cable rack/pinion style as well. I hope he reads this b/c I'm not sure what brand he replaced it with last year. Again, glad yall are safe!

Belive it or not the same thing happen to me. The only difference is I didn't install it, one of our area dealers did emoBadLanguage.

I will scare to half to death. Just as you said thanks to the Good Lord and safty kill switches I am still here to write about it.
