Blue Ridge Bassmmasters of Oak Ridge Tn. ...tx #4 .on Douglas Lake .our only draw partner tx of the year....1rst 13+..2nd 11.49......me my partner came in 3rd 11.41 most had boat limits (6) big fish 5.95 2nd 5.75 .. I had one 4.85 for 3rd big....sounded like most fish were caught on carolina or plastic of some kind...we caught most of ours on chart/white spinnerbait and afternoon my 20 year old partner spanked me with the shaky head/black finesse worm.......wouldn`t look at my yyyaaaammmammaaotooo senko...12 boats 22 guys water temps 67...same as last weekend....about five foot from being summer pool....
One of the benefits of only having full pool of 3-4 months a year is there are a lot of cypress or willows or some kind of water tolerant trees are growing in the backs of nearly all the shallower pockets ....and theres alot of pockets ... and they are holding some flippin` fish....fish seemed to be in the middle of the spawn... some done.. some fanning ..and some not ready yet. I think because of the constantly rising water and cooler temps near the mountains that they spawn more over a 2-3 moons ..moreso than the mainstrams.....
overall a good day for fishing ...just a little windy !!

Thanks for the report Snuffy! It's always great to hear what's going on at that end of the river. I hope you can make it to the CrackerFest and CFF Picnic!

Jon ...we went right straight across the channel to to the very back of the pocket behind the big island and fished a flat that had just a little weeds sticking up out of the water....I caught my 2 keepers there and behind the flat...we saw a guy from BFL go in behind us and catch a good one out of a tree not 30 ft from where I caught my big un`.. We were covering some water with the sb and cranks and trying to get the early bite aggressive fish..partner caught 2 ..we decided we might ought to try the flippin` thing a little too ....we fished it around again without a bite ....Went the back of Maguire creek and fished a long pocket and partner caught some small fish and 2 more just keepers on shaky head....and I let the winning fish get off flippin`a lizard around the trees. The bad/good thing about Douglas when it`s near full is there are 10,000 pockets and points to choose from
dhaun I hope to make the Crackerfest ....been wanting to get down there and figure out where and how to catch them things for several years..love watching that bobber go down..... and I might try to sponsor a night tourney out of Watts Bar Dam later...but I`ve got a club tourney about every 3 weeks and may try to fish the BAIT nite series which will further complicate things.....Plus they made neutrons friday at work for the first time... there will probably be somes extra work now that they`ve hit their milestone..

Congrats on 3rd, Snuffy! The weights were pretty close. Those flooded bushes were good to us on Saturday, as well.

Good job, big guy! The white jig can also be good in the trees and trash in the pockets. Be carefull out there.
