I have a 1999 Stratos 21 SS extreme , its almost impossible to pump gas into the gas tank ever time that I let the boat get below a 1/4 tank of gas , after I get it to take 4 or 5 gallons I can pump in the gas faster. Does anyone else have this problem ?

Interesting, sometimes my Pro Craft will want the gas pumped slower, never payed attention to the tank level.
Maybe it's due to the higher amount of fumes when the tank is low. Also remember, a lower fuel level can allow more condensation in your tank!
Water-very very bad!

You might want to check your vent on the gas tank it might be stopped causing the pressure to build and not let the fuel in.

just a thought

Do you know where the vent line would be on this boat the ? Does it vent to the outside of the boat ? Way this boat is made I can't see the gas tank.

Turn the nozzle upside down next time. I had a shadow that would do that and I started turning the nozzle upside down

Find the vent and make sure it isn't clogged. Also on my Bullet in the summertime I have the same problem.I blow back through the vent line and then it will take fuel.It s like a vapor lock!

I have to do it to my bullet I don't know what it matters but it has worked for me it may not work on every boat

Thanks
I will try turning the nozzle upside down next time . It will click the nozzle off but not fast enough , gas spills out on to the boat . I'm going to also look for the vent line.

A lot of the tanks have a vent hose that actually has a little belly in the line....creating a trap that will hold just enough gas to block the vent . On my Bullet sometimes I cup my hand around the outside end of the vent and blow back into the tank. You can usually feel the backpressure clear the trap when you blow on it. If I turn the backend of the nozzle straight toward the engine and start real slow for a few seconds and then gradually speed it up I don`t have much trouble. Used to drive me crazy when I first got my Bullet. I would think all boats tanks vent to the outside so you should have one somewhere.

With the gas cap off it looks like there is vent line right above the hole where you put the gas in , not sure if that's a vent line or a over flow line .

that`s probably it and they serve the same purpose..... you may be able to see the lines from the underside .....check to see if there is a belly in the line somewhere. you may be able to shorten if it drooping.

I have an 01 stratos an i have the exact same problem. I have been turning the nosel over but it will still spit gas back out on me every time. It takes forever to get gas.

My Stratos does the same thing. I don't know it for sure, but I just assumed the filler tube had a bend close to the spout. Takes me FOREVER to fuel up too.

Here is Stratos reply

The fuel cap is a venting cap.

Unfortunately, that boat is a little slow to take fuel. It has a large fuel tank and the angle of the fuel fill hose is not very steep. Here are a couple of things that you might try:

1) Hold the nozzle upside down when filling. The fuel seems to go in much quicker.

2) You can try pulling the tank lid out of the boat and see if there is any extra fill hose that can be removed. Sometimes the hose may have a slight bow or swag in it and that will cause the gas to puddle and kick the pump off.

Hope this information helps. Thanks again and let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,
