Just thought I`d throw this out.
At my last club TX in August, I threw a Fit and managed to break about a foot
out of beloved Launcher by Castaway. After fighting the wind and Yatchs for about 7 hours on lower Ft .Loudon , I made a cast cross up wind and wound up with what had to be the worst mess ever. I was on 24v hi trying to hold the boat in the high wind and 3-4 foot waves so my partner could continue to fish . The old Daiwa reel that never...ever ...backlashes no matter how hard you try...got a loop way...way down deep. After peeling off a 100 yards and having it streaming down both sides of the boat and fixing to get in the trolling motor and still not down to the loop..... I pitched one of what used to be very regular fits and proceeded to whup the water with the rod I won in a club raffle 10 years ago. I had grown out of these FITS over the last few years...but this one just had to come out.
Any way I thought... well it WAS a good rod... Broke it in 2 places about a foot back.
Partner said let me take and see if he could get it made up...even being 10 years old I didn`t think they would do it.
He took it to Jerry`s Bait and Tackle in Rockwood and they sent it off. Low and behold ...they sent me a new one !!!
I don`t have X-ray vision but it looks to be a at least as good a Quality as the one I broke....Just a slightly different shade of Brown....
It just go show that you never know what some companies will do to keep your business. And Thanks to Jerry`s for the service.
Now if I can just pick on something else when I have one of the fits.......like the anchor !

Thats some pretty good customer appreciation right there. You must have been on your best behavior when we fished together. You were calm and cool as a cucumber. I have those "fits" sometimes too. And mine usually involve wind and huge boats also.

It was just your soothing persona Flipper !!!

I used to have a short fuse years ago....now it`s just when I do something really ,really really stupid !!
gettin old will do that to ya !

Glad to here they made good on your rod, someone told me they didn't do that anymore. I have two that I'm quite found of myself. Thanks for the report

I have castaways on 3 of my spinning reels. My striper rod is an inshore castaway model. I have been very pleased with them all. That's great they replaced a rod 10yrs old emoThumbsup

we.... and Jerry`s didn`t know if they would or wouldn`t but i didn`t figure I had anything to lose.
They are good rods and I hope the new one is just as good. Looks Good

That is good to know. Thats one of my favorite rods is my 6.8 Castaway. But Snuf & Flip Whats wrong with 20-30MPH winds & some 2-3Ft. rollers? Make for some good surffing if you weren't catching anything.

. I hear Ft. Loudon is bad about the big rollers.

Man, the prop on the TM was coming out of the water and the nose of the boat was going under just about continuously. We were Trying to fish the current (that had just come on)going Down stream and the wind was blowing up Stream.
I had a 30 yard loop down one side of the boat and about 50yrds down the other side.
And to beat it all , my partner in the back catch`s a 17 3/4 inch SM while all this is going on.
I finally had all I could take !!

I've never been one to throw fits.... but ya, it's happened! Sorry to incite you, but most of us have 13 or 14 rods all set up and ready to go. I'll bet you are the same. Isn't it easier to just ball that crap up and put it away and grab another rod? Then go home and cut that stuff off.... I get so few precious hours to fish as it is, the LAST thing I want to do is sit there pulling off a loop when I could be fishing.... hope this is recieved as intended. Awesome they did that for you. I took one of my St Croix rods in after my son stepped on it the DAY I PUT IT IN THE BOAT and the guy who sold it to me laughed and said I should have bought a G Loomis. I walked out to never return. Count your blessings.

actually my limit 12....6 of each....
Normally I would have picked up another but this nest started out as a single loop and didn`t appear to be that deep....WRONG...and it had the crank tied on that had been catchin` fish..
and if I had got off the trollin` motor for even a few seconds it would have taken 10 minutes to get back in position...
We needed a couple of just keepers to go with partners Kicker to probably win ...I think we finished 2nd by .4 tenths anyway...
We had waited for them to generate all day and we thought it was good plan and it was ...just couldn`t get keepers.
Just glad they replaced it !
