I know we have a few members who are into all the Computer gaming stuff and I`m thinking about buying some stuff . I need some expert advice on what is the most versatile /capable equipment. Many years ago (2 `puters ago) I had a Force feedback joystick that was really cool with the flight simulator stuff. I still have itbut needless to say the plug in (parallel)is so outdated I don`t think I could get to work now with my `Puter.

I`m mainly trying to figure out the different consoles , X-box, ps2 etc. I see a lot of different configs, memories and what not for each brand.

I`ll give you what I`ve got and you experts tell me what you would get and the cost is not really a factor. I just want to get something that will play the most different kind of stuff. Also the controllers ?? I will want to play it thru the set-up listed below.

I `ve just finished setting up a new Samsung 8000 3D Tv and 6900 3-d Blueray player run thru aSamsung 700 Home Theater (has a HDMI Plug -in for game console), all HDMI connected thru Directv HD DVR. I have all componentshardwired thru ethernet(also have wirelessmodem set-up)to the internet and to my nearly new HP Entertainment Center Pavilion computer. It has a fairly hi-powered AMD chipset 8 gig Ram and aterabyte of memory and I also have 500 gig external hard drive . I see XBox with 250mb and also a 4 MB ( or is it Gig). How does that play in the game world and which would I need ???

Any help would be appreciated !!

Snuff, sorry I can't help you on the gaming thing. I can sure see why I haven't seen you on the lake in a while, though. NICE setup you have there, budro!

xbox 360 all the way, we have both the Xbox and the PS3 and the Xbox is way better. The new 250Gig system with built in wireless is a heck of a deal. Plus if you use Netflix you can link it to your Xbox so you can watch any movies that are on demand movies from netflix. The only reason we bought the ps3 was for the Blue Ray player part, plus my son had to have it for X-mas last year, doesn't even play hardly now, and since you already have a Blu-ray player I wouldn't waste your money on the ps3. If you have any other question just ask.

thanks John....been shoppin` for about 1 1/2 years..finally caught a deal on Amazon...price drop of about 800$ from friday to Monday. It`s taken some time to get it all set-up though.
The reason you ain`t seen me fishin is the 90 plus heat and our notoriously slow fishin` around here when it`s that hot. I guess all them years in these Powerhouses have taken their toll on me ...just can`t take the heat like I used to.
Thanks for the info derek81...got a couple of questions. About the 250 gig...is that like Ram on `puter or for storage of movies . Is it needed to make the games run effeciently. Quite a difference in the price on the 250 and the one I saw that was 4 gig. The BRay player, Tv and Directv plus my computer and external hard drive give me way more than enough storage for movies and music ,etc. Plus they all have the apps for Netflix, blockbuster,etc...... too much stuff really.
Thanks again for the info.

Ps3 all the way. You have netflix and you didnt have to buy a blue ray because ps3 has one built in. Also x-box you have to buy a card to play online when ps3 is all free. The biggest thing is if you have a 3d TV then your in luck because ps3 is coming out with 3D games. Coming soon. Thats just my to cents

You're gonna get alot of "PS3 is better because of x" or "Xbox is better because of y" but I won't tell you which one to get, you just need to look at the game libraries of each and see which one trends more towards the games that you think you'll enjoy. As far as your computer goes, you should be able to play any game on the market right now, maybe not at their highest graphics setting but you should be able to go pretty high on that scale, so again, just find what games you want and buy the peripherals, if any, that you need. Good Luck!

P.S.

Well if you play x-box online then you have to pay. Every time you have to pay for a card then you could have spent that on a new game. my 2cents. I would also get a "Wii" for working out. LOL If you buy one you will no what im talking about.

50 bucks for 12 months of online play got one for the son last year.. I hate these stupid xboxes and ps3's damn kids play em way to much
