A buddy of mine got one and we took it squirrel hunting on a no squirrel showing day. Yea, the hunting sucked but I was really impressed with the power of these things. I shot one a couple of years ago and yesterday. Looks like its 50 ft/s under a .22 caliber. Any one else own theses? Tell me what you think of them. I may get one.

I got a Hornet, and I'll tell you-if you get the Gamo Raptor Real Gold ammo it packs a punch!
Just plinking, it sounds like a 22 short being shot.

I have one that I use to use for animal control. Very accurate and did the trick on small mammals and resting birds. Don't hate, Kroger paid $500 to get a bird out of their vegetables. I would let it go for $75 as I don't use it these days.

It's a Shadow 1000 - 1000 fps with Limited Lifetime Warranty. Looks like new as I always had it in a case. Helped to keep it sighted-in also. It came with a scope, but the hooded peep site worked so well I never installed it. I still have all the paperwork, warranty card as I never sent it in.

Billy, I shoot a Gamo Socom carbine and love it. Solid, seems to be quality; 1000 and 1200 fps depending on ammo, consistant accuracy, heavy barrel helps keep me steady, 3-9x variable scope is certainly adequate. I think I remember it being about $300 list, bought it on sale for $150.

I have one of the Big Cat Gamo,s used it to take big fox squirrel, it hits hard and is very accurate.

Some of these guns are 22 cal. and some are .177 cal. Which is best?

The foot per second is better with the 17. 1250 ft/s with the right pellet.

I have the Big Cat as well. I use it to practice since rifle ammo is higher.

My son has the Whisper I belive, it's a .22 pellet gun but man it has some serious knock down power. Will put a coon down with the right shot!
