Can we not get someone with some authority to provide us with some garbage cans for all the slobs that throw their crap on the rocks by the turbine outputs below Chickamauga dam? What if the riverwalk police actually watched for for these people to do the deed (littering), and warned them of a possible fine and then followed up on it?Maybe too many stairs to go up and down , no concrete cart path for the E-Z Go? What about helping make this great place to fish cleaner so that I could take my wife or kids without worrying about the friggin' bubonic plague from livers, shad guts, nightcrawlers, and the squirrel sized rats that feed on this filth. Did I mention the there was a little garbage also? It's disgusting. Maybe TALK radio can help. I'll see.

It was as bad as I have ever seen last night. I was thinking the same thing the whole time I was there. On a positive note, some slob left all his trash on the lower walk-way, and my son picked it up to take to the cans, (the boy scout in him :) ) and found 2 brand new small mouth jigs in the packs....whoever left all that carp deserved that.

Ya I've been down there too and it is nasty.Up in Wisconsin where I'm from the city would keep up on the trash on a day to day basis. I don't know what's up over here. One thing in wisconsin you have to pay at all public facilities and alot of places had a area to clean your fish.It is nice not having to pay every time you want to launch your boat. For me I like it better here, I fish a lot and 2-3 boat launch fee's every week add up. So what 's the solution?

See if somebody has a hook up at the courthouse and let the criminals that have to do comm. serv. pick it up. That might change their minds.

I go there quite often and see first hand the very slobs that are doing it. They will cut slabs off Herring and kick the rest over in the rocks rather that even tossing it close to the water. That makes maggots and millions of flys. Plus the awful stink. But even worse than that is the way they discard the wads of that big catfish fishing line. I watched a fellow strip off a wad of big line and then poke it down beside a rock. He refilled his reel then moved next to me on the rail and began fishing. Seeing what was happening, I planned a little show just for him. If you know me you know I like to do that stuff to make a point. I got a bucket of water and as I was walking behind him I got hung up on some discarded line and tripped. My bucket slung out of my hand, I fell on the rocks where several rocks flipped to increase the racket. I accidently kicked my bucket then fell back and set against the litterbugs leg. (What a show!!!) I was forced to curse and do some serious name calling about those ..............Take my word for it, It was well stated......people who throw line down and are too........Some more......lazy to carry it to the trash can by the steps on the way out. He whole heartedly agreed with me. I made him believe that I really fell due to discarded line......... Did not do any good at all. This guy left and did not pick up the line, drink plastic bottles, a bag nor did he throw the minnows back that he had netted and left on the rocks. I hollered at him to remind him that he forgot his trash, whereas he did pick up the bag. I am pretty sure he through it in the rocks before he got to the trash can with it. That is one of the sorry...More... that really needs a ticket and obligation to pick up a few maggot filled carcusas.

I think we should raise a little stink with TVA Security and demand that they start enforcing their inplace trashing laws in that area. If they see you drop trash at the Riverpark I bet you would hear about it. All they would have to do is to walk down there during the times that it has a large number of people in the area and start asking who owns the trash all over the area. Threaten that every one is going to have to leave because of the severe health hazard left in that corner. Threaten to fence it off and ban fishing because of the trash left in that area. I will bet you that you would have the regulars on their toes and taking it on themselves to insist that people clean their crap up as they leave.

Just a thought out loud.

You know as much time as Rsimms spends on the river, I bet he has seen some REAL good instances of slobs litering! Lets hear your best story Richard.

I'll bet their home looks like where they fish. The only thing that might get their attention is a big fine. Banning fishing in the area would just move them elsewhere.

A video would be worth a thousand words in the hands of a TV news person. If they saw their face on TV they might be embarassed enough to clean up after themselves next time, or maybe not.

Alright Ladies and Gentleman , I've got cameras and video at my disposal . I will get the nonsense stopped. Yes , The house that they live in is probably nasty, but I don't visit there. I promise that I'll catch them in the act and turn it in to everyone that knows anyone. I'll sit there every day , just like hunting. I'll make sure to post all the footage. It should be fun to watch. Or disgusting!

Come on Mr. Simms , lets do something about this. Comments , PLEASE. Just look at Chickamauga Vs. Nickajack Dam trash. I really don't think that OUR FISH POPULATION likes to eat dead , dehydrated, Alosa mediocris, and other meaty entrails for dinner. Although , The bass on Lake Guntersville might love the large rats that live on this filth. Weedless hooked , non the less.

You got my vote. I would like to know when you go and set up my video equipment with you. That would be fun. I can assure you that you could use up some tape.

It sound like you guys have a good idea. That sound like fun. I wish that I could get down there with you guys and help you out. I haven't been fishing below the dam for quite a while but it does tend to be a bit rough down there. All of us need to be responsible for the messes that we make. I wish that more people felt that way. I see trash everywhere up and down HWY 58 and it really does make me mad sometimes.
