I have a 200 evinrude motor 98 model its not the fich engine on average how many miles to the gallon do these motors usually get at around 5000 rpm.

TOOOOOOOOOOOO amny variables to say. Most of the time, 3500-4000 RPM will result in the best fuel economy. The key is to optimize your set up. Most carb engines will get 2.5 to 4.5 MPG. Hope this gives you a ideal.

What about a 1999 225 EFI Mercury. This thing really drinks the gas. Is there anything that can be changed to help the gas mileage on this motor?

2 strokes by design are not fuel efficent engines. The intake and exhaust ports are open at the same time during the transfer of the new fuel charge. So some of the new fuel charge goes out the exhaust. Most engines will get the best fuel economy at 3500-4000 RPM's. The faster the engines RPM's, the more exhaust flow you have and the more fuel will follow it out of the cylinder. If you rig is set up correctly, it will get decent fuel mileage. With DFI (HPDI, Optimax, FICHT, ECT.) they installed injectors where the spark plugs were and relocated the plugs to the side of the head. Fuel is then injected into the cylinder with no open ports. This make more power without wasting fuel. That is why they get such better fuel economy. If you run WOT all the time, then it will use more fuel. Just my .02

thanks alot i did some figuring and if ran at 5000 rpm mine gets around 2.5 mpg i was wondering because im gonna fish flw at the chic and wanted to make long run but decided against it.

What is your max RPM WOT?? HARD to believe but a smaller prop usually gets better fuel milleage as it takes less fuel to "feed the fire". Also tweeking the jack plate to the correct height for your prop, will add economy as well.
