My friend and I fished today below the Chick Dam here and there all the way past Old Combustion Engineer. We had 8 dozen big shiners from Jack’s as our bait. We fished water from 2 to 14 feet deep using 10 lb test with bream hook and a couple split shots. This is a technique he was showing me and it worked really well. We each boated 15 or more smallmouth and almost as many Spots along with 2 huge Drum. We fished from 11 am until 5:15 nonstop. Water temp was 45. A great day in the river.
Sorry no pics.

Man oh man! I knew that but must have been really tired when I typed it last night. Sorry. I would edit but can’t.

We hooked the shiners their the bottom of the mouth and between the nostrils. That seemed to work well.

Excellent. A bud and I are going to start doing the same type fishing once I learn how to half way throw a bait catcher that I picked up on FB market place for a song. I'm going to the dam dock tomorrow while it is nice outside and practice throwing it.

You tube videos don't look incredibly hard to do with practice. Too much free bait in the river not to give it a try.
