Rhea county sherrifs dept was called last night to investigate the two aligators spotted in the new bethal area in dayton. It is an area previously owned by bowater. There is a lot of back water with direct access to the river. A year ago two adults and three juveniles were spotted in the cottonport area of rhea county which is in close proximity of this area. I'm wondering if anybody knows any more about this.

I live in the cottonport area right on the river (across from cottonport marina) and i haven't heard anything or seen anything.

supposedly theres been some gators spotted down in Graysville Ga, AND supposedly there is a local guy down here in Ringgold Ga that has some pics of them but honestly... who knows? The gators in up in Dayton could be possible, right? I remember YEARS ago me and my father saw one over in flintstone in a slough type area while we were scoping out a new hunting area. I know it wasn't a duck or snake or something else and I've watched more than enough nova to know the difference.

Gators have definitely been spotted in Decatur Alabama a few years ago when I lived in Huntsville, a friend of mine saw one his ownself and it skeered the boy.
I don't see how they can take the winters here (or even in Decatur) but maybe they can. emoScratch

I've seen gators on Wheeler... authorities have captured gators on private property around Baker's Creek over the last few years. A gator was killed on Danville Road by the Decatur Mall as well. Which is 2 miles from any creek known for gators (Limestone, Flint, and Baker's)

We had on eat a cripple Bluewing teal three years ago in Mud Creek. emoZipped
