Rain came through last night but wasn't sure what the forecast was for today.
I reached for the little ladies Kendall Fire to checked the regional weather radar and saw the showers had all cleared out of the area.
Headed on over to the lake with overcast skies and a slight breeze.
Put the boat in and noticed the lake temp at 80 degrees. Five degrees lower than the last time I put in.
Headed on over to a deep water spot I frequent and picked up a nice TARP white crappie on the first cast.
This thing hit so hard it kind of startled me just a little bit. After all I was just looking for a slight tick in the line.
Many of you know this tick I'm talking about.
Spent the rest of the morning working similar areas in open water near the 20ft zone.
Fish today were very finicky seeming to prefer 1 1/2 inch baits retrieved just as slow as possible.
Bites came just as slow also but if you kept work work working that cover, one would eventually commit and take the bait.
Did not tally a whole lot of fish this morning but did get a couple of nice ones within the mix.
Glad to see the keep ratio up on Tellico this year.

Nice fish Gene, was wondering what you had been up to. Seems to be a tough crappie year here. When the Kid and DK are not getting into them much, no reason for me to try.

Regards, Labman

That TARP white crappie must have made you mad, Gene. emoPoke Nice report. Fish are skinny on Tellico aren't they? emoBigsmile
