Looking for a change of scenery, I headed over to Kingston and put in for the first time.
First thing I noticed was lots of current flowing in this area and cooler water.
The humminbird said 72 degrees and there was a light fog on the water.
I had visions of catching lots of crappie today so off I went in search of good crappie structure.
First cast and I set the hook on a channel cat. I believe it got a little upset because it was expressing quiet a bit of dissatisfaction about the whole situation. I was finally able to get the hook out of it and release this fish unharmed except for a slightly sore lip.
Moving on to other structures, I fished bridge pilings, blowdowns, and docks. The crappie were hiding well and I never caught but just a few of them.
However at these places were lots and lots of gills. Getting a bite was not hard to come by as they seemed to like the panfish assassins. The average sized fish was much like the ones in the pics but a few larger ones crept in occasionally. This would be a good place to bring the kids for some good numbers.
Sort of reminded me of Douglas Lake.
