I know there are a few Georgia fishermen on here so maybe you can help me...

I am looking to buy a used boat. The one I am looking at now is located in North Carolina (owned by an individual). Does any one know the process to register an out of state boat in Georgia?

Will I have to pay sales tax when registering like in Tennessee or do boats have an Ad Valorem tax like cars and trucks?

Thanks, and by the way, I'm looking for a 18-19 ft Triton if anyone knows one for sale.

I'm going to try and answer my own question here...

I called around and the best I can figure is all that's needed is a notarized Bill Of Sale. Registration is $36 for three years + $3 for a transfer. As far as the tax is concerned, if I understood right, all I have to do is pay for a trailer registration/tags which is $12 or so.

I hope this is right. All this legal stuff confuses me emoScratch

If you want a nice Triton, I have one in mint condition, a 2004 Triton TR196 with a 200HP Mercury EFI. It has all the bells and whistles that you can put on a boat. Send me a PM.
