I did not have a landing net today and I lost two slabs today right out of my hand. That cost me! I only brought home Thirteen.

The water temps are hitting the upper sixties today. This morning early the water felt as warm as bath water.

Fished water from 3' to 13' deep. The biggest crappie and all the fish i brought home were taken in water deeper than 10'
I wasted my time again for some reason. Went into Wolftever and caught dozens of littlle teeny dink crappie. Not one keeper. Went back to old faithful and had Seven keepers in the well in the first thirty minutes.

Not sure but I think I caught over fifty Crappie today. 80% of all fish caught was by sight and cast. Man I love that way of stalking the fish with side scan.

I did not take my net with me today and wouldn't you know it I lost two 2lb slabs while trying to lip them and/or cradle them. I'll have one tomorrow for sure. Those two cost me....Ended up only bringing home Thirteen. They were nice crappie. The biggest one that I did land was 1.997 lbs(2 lbs)

SEE the pics.
First pic is the tub of fish
Second is the biggest fish today
T hird is proof thatI cleaned them with a Fillet knife. My electric is too slow. Notice that I leave Zero waste.

LIveliner, I tried out chesterfrost this morning and blanked. I saw a few people trolling and whiping up on some crappie, but I like to tight line for them and I had no idea where to go. I did try your side scanning though and it got us a few more in the boat for sure!! Glad you had a good day!!emoThumbsup

Wow LL, I use an electric and butcher my fair share of fish running through them as fast as I can. That is one of the cleanest filets I have ever seen...emoWorthy

Yep! That's the way my electric leaves them looking too. What a good catch there Liveliner. Maybe we ought not to talk about the side scanning very much. What hogs these were. emoThumbsup emoGeezer

He actually gets the stomach meat. When I fillet my crappies, I just get the shoulders. LOL I prefer a manual knife over an electric. I am decent with both, but just something about the time it takes with the manual makes me feel better about the fillet.

That crappie is wicked looking. Wonder if it's buddies kid it about that nose? LOL Gorgeous fish!

You read RSimms Thursday report is why you went into Wolftever. I saw you come in and go out; you were in a big hurry. Since I have a little 25 hp, I don't do much running. As a result, I really fish the area I'm in. My buddy and I stayed with them in Wolftever and finally limited out around 1:30 pm. We had 5 fish over a pound; but we did catch at least 4 non-keepers for each keeper.

Man I need to head off down yalls way.I know we aint got anything biting here on Percy Priest.Went to Woods Reservoir the other day cause they said they was biting but nothing turned up there alot of empty hungry fishermen.Trying to talk my buddy into heading down that way before they stop biting.

LL that was some real nice crappie and fillets.

Where were you when you saw me. I always try to be nice with wake where the conditions are close in. I wished you had got my attention. I love meeting fellow CFFers..

I was in a hurry to get out of there. I guess I just have no confidence in the Wolf. You mush have a little faith to catch fish. Maybe that's my problem.. At least I keep giving it a chance to pay off. Wolftever used to be my go to place

I was just looking at that fish again after you said that. That thing did have an exceptionall big mouth for a crappie. Her mouth is big enough to swallow the spool on that Cardinal 301 or actually the entire reel except for the reel foot. Look at her mouth compared to the others that are all near her size. Her mouth makes her look as if she is mixed with a "Snook".

liveliner, did you happen to get a length of the biggest crappie? I don't do the weight thing. Congrats on the good day.

Had nothing better to do and time on my hands so here is your measure. It appears that that crappie was 16 3/8" long. By looking at the rod along with the fish, I measured the rod after aligning the points that align with the fish length.
