Parksville lake of course
I've fished this lake the last 2 years and couple of months now... But since about a year ago, I've been fishing shallow water on top. So everytime I enter a cove, or backwater, I seem to spook these fish that really look like BIG gizzard shad. Not sure if they are or not. But they are in schools as big as 30 members. I mostly see these fish as 1-3lbers. I know that is huge for a gizzard shad. </p>

Anyone else ever fish the lake and know what they are? OR, any Ideas?

Are they in the grass? If so I would agree they are Gizard shad. Usually you can see large schools of them swimming and feeding in the grass.

They would just be cruising around in the back of the coves. I think they would make a great bait for big bass, just like Spur said... I've even seen some monster bass up there just cruising around them, as if they are interested. That sure gets to me!

I saw the same thing last year. It's hard to get a positive ID looking through the water, but they had the same shape and color of gizzard shad.... they just looked a little too big. That water is so clear it would be tough to throw a net on them IMO.

Yea Ive seen some big bass there eating 9-12 each trout . once watched 5 bass 3-7 lbs or so had a 8-9 inch rainbow cornered on the rocks, the trout was barely in enuff water to cover its back frantically breathing, I spooked it back into deep water to see what the bass would do .. I soon found out the biggest bass grabbed it head first and swallowed it whole

Kevin, the last time I fished there I saw a small school of GS. There was about 20-30 in it. They were in very shallow water and I got real close to them. They were all about 10" long.
