We've all heard of global warming for years, now, there is an international investingation into misinformation, fudging statistics and just flat-out lies and mis-use of funds! I assume that most people, especially those of use who love and respect the great outdoors, know that man sure can make a mess of things. Just look at all the trash we leave everywhere!

My thought is this,-- Man is definately the number one cause of polution! Trash, oil, air polution and chemical waste have done plenty of damage to our earth. We definately need to do a better job at being more responsible and take better care of this earth that God has given use. But I also feel God is in controll and Im not so sure that "global warming" is a man-made problem. I feel that the earth is just doing what it does naturally.

I am interested as to how others feel on this matter and if you think that the hard-core "Global Warming people" are using this as a money-making scam or if it is truely a man-made problem.emoQuestion

I beleive there is global warming, but it is a natural cycle of the Earth. I don't think that man is contributing very much to it. The mire they scare people about it though, the more they can make off outrageously expensive effient devices, as well as levying huge taxes for carbon footprints. Global Warming has happened many times over the last few million years. The Ice Age ended somehow, right?

Tha being said, I think that as an educated species, Man should take every "reasonable" step to protect the treasure that we have. I think that the bigger problem with polution, and more supported, is that it is causing serious health problems for human beings. We all need to do our part to generate less trash, pick some up when we see it, use less energy when possible, and respect nature.

There is global warming. I don't see how anybody could not see that. You need to go to some of the developing countries like china to truly see what we are doing to affect the climate. God has nothing to do with us dropping billions of tons of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Actually, Beetlespin when Mount St. Helens erupted it spewed out hundreds of thousands of times more CO2 and greenhouse gases than has been released by mankind in recorded history. Look we should be good stewards of our environment but the whole green movement is just another way to pad the pockets of our lousy politicians. Just follow the money.....

People say how we are harming the Earth. Not True! However people are altering their environment. On a much bigger scale humans are just a short period of time on this planet. Let's say just for discussion that mankind kills off every living human and animal. In time, the dust will settle, the seasons will purify the air and the earth's surface and the earth will continue to be the beautiful blue planet that it is. We can not hurt the Earth. It will survive us and do just fine. Think about that.

It kinda stands to reason that the earth would be warming up after coming out of an ice age that, when looking at how old the scientists say the earth is, wasn't that long ago.

Wouldn't also stand to reason that, since most of the scientists prefer to shove Darwins Theory down everyone's throat, that man would evolve and be able to live in such an environment? Or is it just apes that evolve into man, and then the evolution ends? I'm so confused...

Evolving to compensate for poor environmental conditions is not optimal. It also takes many generations for any species to evolve.

The earth has gone through thousands of warm and cold cycles and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. I hope Al Gore is having a cow over all this with his incovenient truth crap. As far as evolution goes, mankind has stopped evolving as there is no longer any survival of the fittest in a physical sense. Anyone who wants to can breed and there is nothing to stop it. We also take care of our sick and weak, that doesn't happen in nature, they get weeded out so yes, we have stopped evolving physically.

Davo, that's probably the first post you've ever made that I disagreed with everything you said. Species evolve and we are still evolving. Our jaws are smaller hence the need to have wisdom teeth removed. We are causing global warming. The entire world is becoming industrialized and developing countries have the same terrible air quality we had in years past

Start cutting the firewood now, we're actually going toward another ice age. Al Gore and his cronies are reaping the rewards now, and will again when they switch back to a global cooling theory, which by the way, is what they were preaching less than 5 years before this crap.

Ok, maybe saying that we have totally stopped evolving physically was a bit much, but I don't think that it is at the pace it once was. Technology and the ability to keep people alive are slowing evolution down. You no longer have to be the best hunter or most physically fit to mate, now it is more of a financial survival of the fittest.....but we have bailouts to fix that too. I think that it will be a long time before we lose chest hair or beards. As far as global warming goes, sure we have some impact but the earth does have continuous cycles of warmth and cold cause by many things. It's just way too long of a time period for us to really ever even notice, at least on a geological timeline.

If anyone wants to research this I would welcome it. I recall very well back in about 1967 that there werewarnings that the earth was heading into another Ice Age. The polar caps were expanding, the winters were more server and were lasting longer. I remember discussion of farming being altered and creating problems with our food supply. We didn't have Al or his Daddy throwing red flags in those days. I watched a show the other day where ice core samples in Greenlandare being tested and are reveling weather changes for thousands of years. They show weather cycles of the earth. Even more simple than that, The rings of large trees show proof of changing conditions over the last more recent years.

I do agree that all countries on earth need to work togetherto protect our environment. But as far as global warming just wait a few years. Don't go jumping out of skyscrapers just yet.

The only thing I see evolving is the phrase "Global Warming" into the phrase "Climate Change",Watch and see! Anyone who knows anything about the world's history knows there is climate change. The climate is always changing. If other world powers like China, India and Russia dont get on the Global Warming band wagon, all the hot air talking about it wont help their cause and all the fossil fuels being burned from all the traveling back and forth to these meetings is not helping anything either. Im not convinced their passion is about conservation and more about money and controll! emoScratch

P.S. That is a pretty interesting article LL. I just skimmed over it but I will look at it again tomorrow when I have more time. emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

Guys back in the fifties and into early sixties we had some harsh winters. Read about the dust bowel that had all the effects on OK. That caused the great surge to Calif.
Then in the eighties it started slowing down on the harsh winters and became hotter in the summer. In my OP and I am no scientist by no means it is just the cycles we go through.

Why I remember the winter of 1968 you saw rabbits running around with fur coats on. emoTongue

Beetlespin if we as in the "human race" are causing global warming then how about addressing my previous point about Mount St. Helens....

TRU TV has a new show w/ Jesse Ventura called "Conspiracy Theory" that comes on Weds nights. Last nights show was looking into global warming. They'll show it again, Im sure. Its channel 204 if you have Dish network. I found it very interesting. Check it out! emoThumbsup emoThumbsup

Just letting you guys have at it. If he want I will. 80% comes from that, in a very short time we have altered the climates change by only a couple of degrees. Which could end in tragic results, that most likely cannot be reversed once it hits a certain point. Snip it is going to happen, I believe you are right, history and science tell us that. Beetle is right that humans are impacting environment, and as developing nations are developing much like our on, their environmental laws are somewhat 50-60 yrs behind our on, just like our economy was. We want do much about it because as they become more developed they demand more product. People don't realize it, and these are old numbers, we only ship 15
% of our goods and services. Sounds small but is more than the whole world combined. Could be wrong not 100% here. I wonder if still true. I am still up in the air about this. I have several questions, It could be 1000- 2000 0r 100-200 years before we could see effects either way? Next, can the rest of the world catch up fast enough to where they can add technology for a cleaner planet and still compete economically? Last, what are we going to do when Africa and South America begin to really emerge? Generations to come have alot to deal with.

"IF", and only if Global warming is caused by man, we are fighting a sinking ship if China and India dont reverse course and ASAP. Nothing the rest of teh world does will matter if that doesnt happen. :(
