I'm using one as well... and there is no doubt that the quality is incredible, I don't find them very "user friendly," at least not to learn the more advanced capabilities. I'm also very disappointed in the relatively short-lived battery life. It's great for somebody skiing down a mountain and they know exactly when they're going to start and stop... but I want to use mine in hunting & fishing situations where you never know when the "action" is going to happen. GoPro's don't work well in that situation. I also found that my computer, which really a pretty darn good machine, simply can't handle playing/processing the highest quality (1080) video a GoPro will shoot.

I actually had to reduce the quality in order to effectively edit videos.

However I have actually enjoyed playing with the Timelapse feature as much as I have the video. Here's one example: http://youtu.be/cl9ipZONt5A?hd=1

I'm very glad I have one and expect to shoot some really cool fishing videos this year, they have their limitations. Here's couple of GoPro still photos.

I got a black edition really early on from gopro on a preorder. Batteries will run down quickly but at $20 apiece I bought five. Also make sure you by the highest capacity cards you can as the smaller ones will run out of room quickly. I've had mine since early november. I've recorded videos in every fps and resolution on it while fishing. They all have advantages and disadvantages. The higher resolutions are incredible looking. The widescreen is also very nice or you can have normal screen.

The remote also runs down really quickly but is great to have sometimes. I've used the head mount more than the others and I also have the small viewing screen you can attach to the back to watch your videos and pictures where ever you are and would advise to purchase that as an option. My computers are custom built and I have no problem playing the videos back at any resolution on my computers.

Rsimms did you buy the fog screen things? I wished I had ordered some cause I went out this past saturday and it was so foggy and damp I got home and some of the videos were ruined cause of the fog up in the encasement. I just ordered some from tacklewarehouse. Called around here but no one seemed to have the fog inserts.

A couple of the fog inserts came with my camera... but I haven't used them. With any camera, I've always found that if you give it time to "temperature stabilize," fogging usually isn't an issue. If your camera is cold, keep it cased until it warms up before taking it out in a warm place. Or vice versa, if it's warm, keep it cased until it cools off before you take it out in the cold.

I haven't bought any extra batteries or the LCD back... basically out of principal. I've told others that I think GoPro's business model is to sell you a high quality camera at a reasonable price... but then charge you out the whazoo for the various extra mounts and other accessories. emoBigsmile But I have feeling once I start fishing hard this year, I'll want another battery or two..

I bought a 64 GB card for mine... I wish I hadn't bought that much because I quickly learned that your batteries will die LONG before you can even make a dent in a 64 GB card. emoDoh

I bought two, plus batteries, LCD screen, etc, etc. I agree, quality is great for what your paying for the camera, but like Richard, I am having a horrid time editing the massive files that I recorded. I also have never been able to install the drivers for the LCD, its been a huge nightmare and you cant use it on your camera until you get it done.

Hmm, guess mine came with them also but I never noticed. Bet they were in the box that had the different covers for it. It was because of the rain and fog. I've had it out before in the cold mornings and this is first time it's fogged up on me. Your "temperature stabilize" principle is what I do actually, same way I've treated guitars over the last 30 years lol, leave em in the case and don't open when you bring them in out of the cold till it catches up with the room temp. Bet some people wonder why their guitars play like crap and has big cracks in the finish.

Let me know when (or if) you get the LCD driver issue figured out. I'm not buying one until then. emoBigsmile

I found if I back off and shoot 720p video rather than 1080, files are more manageable. And for typical viewing, quality is still far above anything else.

Spur just contact gopro if you haven't already and have them walk you through it. It's just a matter of plugging the camera in and downloading the update from the gopro site. If you plan on taking pictures with it your gonna have to have the lcd screen.

Rsimms if you wanna see what the screen looks like on the camera let me know.

My main question - When you buy the screen... does it came with an enlarged waterproof housing... or is that something else you have to buy?

If I remember correctly when you buy the screen it comes with diff housings.

Yes, they give you the larger back part to the housing with accesories that make the camera larger. The back housing pops off and on when in the right position. I got the Hero2 on close out and got the Wifi accessory which came with a larger back to accommodate it. Like everyone I've had issues with my unit. Read the other day on their FB PAGE that when you delete all photos it erases the update. Don't know if that is right or not, but I have had issues with it freezing up.
