I had been fishing the river mostly and only been on Chickamauga once since last fall so we just had to fish memories. We went to a Marina I like to fish first but the past few times I have been in there I have not found any bait fish and this time was no different. So after about an hour of no bites we went a short ways up the lake to another spot that traditionally is loaded with baitfish and none there either. I told Harley I had another good area I like up around Harrison Bay so we headed on that way but on the way Harley stopped me and said lets hit this point over here I like. Made about 10 casts and I caught the first bass was the one that went 7.06. Once we got that Bass in the livewell i made another cast and caught one just under 3lbs. After we thoroughly fished this area we headed on tot he original destination. When we got this spot we fished there for about ten minutes when I got a subtle tick and set the hook. At first there was not much of a fight but I told Harley it felt like a keeper. Once it came up I saw it was better than a keeper it was the 7.63 big fish. A short time later I caught another bass it was a non keeper. We hit a few more areas and no bites well maybe Harley got one bite. We headed back down the lake and made one more stop. I ended up catching another 3 lber that was about 2 ounces better than the small bass so we were able to cull out one.
It was cold to start but still had a blast I only got five bites and Harley had one bite but he did work the net pretty well. I think water temp was around 42 or 43 and all fish caught in 12 to 14 feet of water
