Someone left a recent Time magazine in the break room, and the cover intrigued me. I thought they were going to badmouth hunting, but then I read it.

You can see the beginning of the article here for free: http://content.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,2158676,00.html

In the article, they talked about certain cities now allowing bow hunting inside city limits. I, for one, would love to be able to hunt off my back porch. Hehehe...

There was also a great graphic that showed how great an increase we've experienced over the last 50 years with regards to various species of animals.

Some highlights: Raccons, up 2,700%; Black Bears, up 320%; Wild Pig, up 120%; Deer, up 800%; Wild Turkey, up 1,500%; and Gray Wolf, up 610%.

Anyway, thought I'd toss it on here in case folks hadn't seen it. The need to hunt has increased dramatically lately and it's good to see folks taking notice.

I don't get where they figure the deer population is up that much. They must take their numbers inside state parks or somewhere that hunting isn't permitted. I used to kill lots of deer in North Ga but the last few years its been tough at best. I didn't kill anything last year and this year I've only seen two. Thats two deer seen since the opening weekend of rifle season in Ga and I go twice a week and more if I get a day off work. I've walked all over the ridges and flats to see that the deer trails I used to watch over are gone, I can't remember the last time I saw a bedding area or droppings. Theres no deer sign on the flats, they seem to have just left the whole mountain all together. Maybe all the deer have moved to town?

Hahahaha...yeah, the numbers were nationwide. They may be really booming in some places and not as much where they used to be or are currently hunted. This could be for many reasons, including an increased number of predator species where they used to be in greater numbers.

FYI, hunting IS allowed in city limits, most cities anyways. While they MAY be a ban on firearms, the vast majority of city ordinances dont ban archery hunting.
