When i got to Bryson City I was greeted by muddy creeks and high water from a wicked overnight storm. That's been my pattern this year.I'm thinking about telling the firefighters out west that I will plan a trip to the fire zone,if they will pay my travel expense. As I drive higher in the mountains the water looks much better and by the time I get to where I'm going to fish it's in good shape. After a short hike I start fishing and find the trout very active.Fished the same fly all day and caught lots of trout.started off with rainbows and browns and when I worked my way up higher I started catching brook trout.
I fished about 4 1/2 hours and did not see another soul, just me and those beautiful wild smoky mountain trout.
I like it.

Great pics Swamp. Thanks for sharing. I love this time of year in the mountains. Luckily most vacationers have gone home and the creeks aren't stomped out all day.
