Good Morning on the Chick 7/20

Launched around 6:15am this morning to go try out my favorite summertime honey hole. Sure enough, they were there! Now I cant tell you exactly where it is but I can tell what the area is like emoBigsmile It is a shallow flat with milfoil with very deep water next to it. Started off with a culprit jerk shad and had a blow up. Threw back and had one break me off. I said forget the spinning gear and tied another jerk shad on a casting setup. Proceeded to catch around 20 then the bite slowed so I switched up with a speed trap and caught 5 more. Then switched back to the jerk shad and caught probably another 10. At around 10:00 the bite slowed considerably and it was beginning to get hot so I called it a day and headed to the ramp. All fish were mostly around 1.5-2lbs with a few 3lbers mixed in. It sure was nice to finally get to try out my summer honeyhole! I got a bad case of bass thumb, One of the better ones decided he wanted to take a nice little chunk of skin off my thumbemoWorthy

Love to hear good reports like that 32, now I know that the fish are still in the lake, all I have to do now is just go get'em. I'll be trying a little honeyhole out this afternoon. I've had a little luck there last week. The water is moving so I hope the fish are feeding on what I've got for them. Anyway, it was good to hear an encouraging report as yours. I hope to have a good report to post tonight.

How shallow is the flat that has the m'foil on it? Just curious, sounds like somewhere up lake to me. Do you fish the upper lake most of the time? There just isn't much grass like that down here on this end of the lake but sometime in the next 5 or 10 years I would expect that the grass will be back here. Time will tell.

It is about 5-6ft deep with 25-30ft of water next to it. I wouldnt consider it the upper part or the lake, more the middle. The milfoil really hasnt topped out good yet. Most places its about a foot or two below the surface like a big carpet on the bottom.
