Well, I can finally stop checking the TWRA website everyday. First time I've put in for any WMA draw hunts and I got Prentice Cooper on 9/17-19 and Hiwassee 9/23-25.

My question is what do you do once you've been drawn?? Do you check-in the first day of your hunt on site?

You will receive confirmation of your hunts by mail. Each hunt might have a scout date. No you don't have to check in, just make sure you keep your confirmation paper with you on the hunts. Hope this helps out.

Nope not many deer taken on that hunt, because most folks are goons and dont have the legs to get too far off the road. Where as the Nov. gun hunt has deer running everywhere and it doesnt matter where you set up. My advice is to get a good map(available at the ranger station) and find a way to use the other hunters to push deer your way. Only other option is to find a food source, red oaks and chestnut oaks should begin falling by then. I got drawn on that hunt as well. If I hunt it I will be off the side of the mountain.

I got the early Prentice Cooper hunt, too. I don't think there's a designated scouting day for that hunt. I plan on going out a couple of weeks before the hunt and scouting some areas a little further in. The other hunt I got (Oak Ridge) has a specific scouting day. Like Sneed said, you'll get the information the mail soon regarding your hunts. Make sure you keep all documentation on you when you go hunt. You don't want to have to explain why you're hunting a week before the season starts and don't have any paperwork!

Thanks for the input guys, that's what I was wanting to know. But as far as scouting I think that you can get on the refuge and Prentice cooper and have a walk around at anytime.

My wife and I rely on 2-3 deer every year. I just hope to be able to stick a few does and I'll be happy, of course a nice buck would be a great bonus, but I'm not picky. I've always been the kind to stay away from the crowd and am not afraid to walk. I'm going to do a good bit of scouting, I'll let ya'll know what the mast looks like.

It's good to see some leaves changing already...
