Well Tarheel and I gave it our best shot but we got our butts kicked. Some of those guys really must know what they are doing to bring in sacks like they had. There was 67 boats entered and we came in ranked 30th. We had our five keepers but nothing big. Cuaght most of our on worms, spooks and flukes. We culled three times so i guess in all we caught 8 keepers but when I say culled it was a difference of an ounce at a time. We just never got into big fish, again.emoRolleyes They paid out ten places and I was so worn out I only got the tenth place wieght which was 14.80lbs. and the first place weight which was 16.86lbs. First place was Lance Nunley and Johnny Leamons. The big bass of the tournament was 8.18 lbs and it was caught on a lizard. At these thing no one tells what they did or shares much so it is not much learning or teaching going on. I guess that is why I like ours. The guys in first and third had a big small mouth or two so they must have been deep or behind the locks somewhere. Remember in this one you could fish the Nick, Chick or Watts so there is no telling. The guys with the big one had a smaller boat so I think they more than likely stayed on the Chick. Well we still had fun, caught a lot of fish and shared a great day the Lord has blessed us with.emoCool Jmax

Hey congrats on catching a limit anyways, it could be worse ya know. Having fun makes it worth the while.

RE: Got humbled today at the Wal-Mart Tourney.

30th is much better than last , a limit is sure better than some of the guys did you can count on that! I know I would have sucked big time at that tx, I havent been able to find any decent fish on chick last 2x I've been ..I like nick better .. smaller lake, has grass, etc ... I just hope I can find quality fish for CFF5.

Too bad Jmax. What was your weight? Excuse me, your limit's weight? I don't want to pry into your waist size either.

My wieght is 237 lbsemoLaugh emoLaugh Our limit weight was only 8.38 lbs. I did not wiegh each fish but I did measure them. We had a 16 and 1/2 incher LM, 15 and 1/8 incher LM, 15 and 1/2incher Kentucky, and two more 14 inch Kentucky, so like I said not much size. We really got into the Kentucky today, the other three keepers were Kentucky also. Like NRG said we just need to be thankful we had a limit. The guys standing next to me at the weigh in had only caught one keeper and I heard one of them tell the other he was going to give up fishing and start golfing.emoLaugh emoLaugh His partners reply was,"Yea this is depressing seeing all these limits and we just had one." Better luck next time I guess.emoSmile Jmax

I never figured out who beetlespin was today. If you read this how did you guys do today??? I was hoping to get to meet you today at the blastoff when everyone was waiting around. Had no idea who you were.emoScratch Jmax

Hey that is great!!!! I had no idea that was him and I was standing right by them after they weighed in and they were getting ribbed by a couple of guys that knew them.emoEek I don't know which one of you guys were beetlespin but judging from your tans you spend a lot of time on the water or at least outside. I really think that is great also, small world out there. Hey I'm with Jason, care to share???emoScratch I understand you may not want to give away any secret spots but like river, bay or creeks for location and crank, worms, jigs for bait? Just an idea of the winning stratagy???emoCool Jmax

Hey Jmax I am like JTF I get humbled at every tournament. emoLaugh I just wish I knew what to do to catch a few fish and have some to weigh in. emoScratch Seems like I always come in a little closer to the bottom of the list instead of the top half. Sounds like you had a good time and thats all that matters. emoParty Congrats to beetlespin on the win! And congrats to you for having a good limit. emoThumbsup

A buddy of mine came to my house last night just after dark. He had gone form 1 till dark and said he caught 15 or 16 with the best five going 20.4 lbs on the chick.emoEek He wanted to know how I did. He than showed me a 6.04 lb LM he had hooked real bad and he said it was bleeding very strongly so he put it in the live well with the water on but it died so he kept it. He had caught one SM also that was 4.89 lbs and the other three were right at 3 lbs each. I told him I needed all that info yesterday morning.emoBang Well you can bet I will be using it for the CFF5 coming up on May 6th. I'm looking forward to a good one. Maybe Beetlespin will bless us with his presents on ours and we can learn something.emoPoke Make sure to sign up if you haven't yet.emoCool Jmax

yes beetlespin won the tournament. He is not one of the usual ringers on chickamauga so everyone really should give it up to him. I fish with him a lot but did not this time around. We may venture in to the CBA next month but not sure.

He has paid his dues and took his lumps so it makes this victory so sweet.

I know for a fact he stayed on chickamauga.

Congrads NFCTHP.

Fishheadspin can you get beetlespin to post on his win? I am sure I am not the only one who would like to know a little more. He doesn't have to give away any sopts or locations but maybe the type of area, the type of depth, the water clearity, the types of baits,...you know just the basics but no secrets. That is a huge area to fish and should not hurt their locations. Regaurdless if he does or does not way to go BEETLESPIN!!!!emoParty I talked to the guys before and after the tournament with the big fish and they were not regulars to win big tournaments either. The guy that caught that big one said it was his biggest ever on a large public lake so he was going to mount it. It had expired during the weigh in period. They said they lost two at the boat that would have had the win for them. They took fourth with only four keepers but they were all good ones. I wouldn't feel too sorry for them they still walked away with $1,065.00 for their efforts, but it is bad to know they lost two at the boat one of which they were trying to net that both were $2,600.00 fish.emoBang That will wear on them a while. LET"S GET SIGNED UP OF THE CFF5 IF YOU HADN'T DONE IT YET WE HAVE 20 NOW SO FAR. I am looking forward to it.emoCool Jmax

i talked to beetlespin, he is traveling and asked if i would post for him.

As i said before, all the fish came from chickamauga. They were caught on jigs and shallow cranks in the 1- 6 feet range in the rain that morning. He stated that in the afternoon they pulled out and fished the main lake breakline and caught a few more keepers.

We have worked hard over the last 2 years to learn how to fish different ways that we were used too. Lookd like it is starting to pay off.

I am proud for Lance just wish i would have been with him on saturday! ha

Good JOB NFCTHP!

Congrats to Johnny and Lance! Glad to see some the Midsouth boys showin' out. I'm ready for you boy's luck to run out so the rest of us can get in the money!-LOL!

Thanks for the reply Fishheadspin and following up with him for us to know. Sounds like he has a lot of supporters on this forum so please let him know. Are you two going to make the CFF5 so you can kick my butt again?emoLaugh I hope you guys do and maybe I can do better and get a little on my money back. I know it appears that the bass and crappie are moving back out and finishing up the spawn. I had a friend of mine last night tell me had did well on crappie that were schooled up in 10 to 13 feet this weekend and said they were all spawned out. He kept a bunch of them and no eggs. Does appear some bass are still shallow but there is a ton of bucks and not many females now.emoThumbsup Jmax
