Well, Wrenchin2 got me all fixed up and I picked up my boat this evening. It's been a tough few weeks not having it, but I think that things will be a lot different now. We took it to the lake pretty late and it was misting......not fun. Anyway, James thinks the motor is idling rough but it sounds pretty great to me. Now I just have the break in period to work through and then get to see what really happens. It did feel pretty strong though. I would tell you all the things James did but it's sorta Greek to me, basically he fixed it. I'm sure he'll chime in for you gear heads but I'm the kinda guy who knows how to put gas in it and that's about it.

Way to go Wrenchin emoToast

It idle rough because the compression reliefs have been plugged. It idles fairly smooth, just not as smooth as it did.

I added .050 more champher to the exhaust ports and plugged the idle reliefs. Problem with it was it had excessivly HIGH leakage. We had planned a rebuild. It started loosing power and he shut it off. I tore it down and found #5 and #6 were scuffed due to overheat. Found the water pump to have excessive memory. Another case of a impeller that needed to be replaced before it did some harm. Found the cylinder had multiple scratches and cleaned up with a rigid honing and were well within specs.

Here are the pics of the scratches and what caused the high leakage. The last 2 are after they were rigid honed.

Got to run it quite a bit today, still strong. Only opened it up about 3 times and only for about 5 seconds each. I'm still a bit nervous and barely ever went above 4,000 rpms. I do think that I may need a smaller pitched prop though.

Give it time to break in. When you get it broke in we will work on set up. I has a great hole shot. Once it is broken in we will probably see spme decent top end numbers from the modifications.

Yep, the hole shot is great. Even with me, Fishnvol, a full tank of gas and a full livewell it got up much better than usual.

That is where raising the compression helps also your engine had a TON of leakage. Once it is broke in, I have a few props we can try. I think you will find the trophy to be a good prop on your boat. But need to get the time on it to see. Seem any stonger today than the last time???

did he put an add-on so you could carry an extra 2 doz rods and reels on the front deck????? I know how you want to have 78 rods on the front deck....it helps you catch more fishes.....FA

Even with Fishnvol as ballast the boat is running great. It's still in the break in period with only short bursts of full throttle. Even in its current state the top speed has passed my previous best. I can't wait for it to get fully broken in to see what it will do. I'm hoping to hit close to 67.

James, you are ruining all these fellahs with your recipe of getting the most from the least. They will have to change the name of this forum to "Scream and Fly", it would have already been changed but the name was taken, maybe "Fly and Scream", Dunlap version.
