I'm very excited I just got selected for a quota hunt (deer ether sex) at Berry college. This will be my first quota hunt I know Berry college pretty well but not excellent.
I only live 25 minutes away from the main campus entrance. I go hiking and bicycling there a few times a month atleast.
What has me confused is I'm unsure what to do as far as how to scout and what special license I need for a quota hunt at Berry college WMA. I read since it is a a selected quota hunt I don't need a WMA license.
I have hunted before (private land), so I just know the basics. Which, is to have my license, hunter education, and harvest record with me at all times.

Any help will be appreciated in how to proceed. It's nov30th and I want to bow hunt it instead of using my rifle also.

I have hunted Berry College for alot of years bow hunting and quota hunts and have taken probably over 25 deer from there over the years. Yes You will need a WMA license! And if You do get a deer they will tag it for You. When You plan on Scouting there plan on doing alot of walking. Because the main gate close to the check station will be closed and locked till the day before the hunt. If you have a mountain bike .Use it! It will save You alot of walking when. The gate is closed. And during the hunt please be prepared because the woods there will be very crowded and sometimes very rude. Good Luck!

Ok thank you for the info. That's going to be really helpful.

Bassin, do you know what time the gates are opened? I read everything I could online and they never specified how early they will open the gates on specified hunting days.

I heard it does get really crowded. I'm hoping a tree stand will help me get away from any stray bullets emolaugh.

I haven't been on the WMA in years but went to college there and hunted every draw hunt while I was there and several after I graduated. Personally I would get as far away from the check in station as possible, first time I hunted there I hunted just off CCC Rd and it sounded like a war zone, did kill a button head the last day. Check out the areas just behind the camp ground off Sand Springs Rd, walk to the back of the camp ground, cross the creek and look on the two ridges between camp ground and Rocky Mtn. Killed a 140" symmetrical 8 and saw several other good bucks.
Good luck and let us know how you do.

Tomorrow is the big day. I am very hopeful after all the rain we got but I am still unsure about how the hunt will go tomorrow. Especially after researching the appalling maps available online. looks like i will need GPS, Compass, and maybe even spot messenger for tomorrow emolaugh.

Good luck buddy,,, I used to hunt there off hwy 27 next to little amerchy creek, It was really thick in there and away from the main part of the wma so I had the place to myself most of the time...but its been several year since I've been there..
knock one down..

I am going to say looking at the weather this morning the best way to hunt it would be from a kayak. It is flooding right now in some places and we still got a lot more rain to come. emoRain I kind of hope you did not go. If you did in all this rain, I wish you the best of luck. emoEek Jmax
