I thought I would share a couple pictures of my hunt but I had a hard time getting them to post. I did get one of the rack to post, I can try some more later. I went to my deer camp in Arkansas this weekend and no sooner did I get there I was driving in to where I was going to hunt to set up my stand and saw a deer in the edge of the woods. I slowed down enough for it to look up at me and I saw it had a good rack. I have been around long enough to know not to stop unless you want them to take off. I kept on going out of sight and then slipped back with gun in hand. I rounded the corner and he was still there eating on whatever about 50 yards away. I put the cross hairs on him and just when he looked up, I confirmed it was still him, I fired...dropped him in his tracks. I have taken bigger deer, I have taken bigger racks... but this is the first non-typical I have ever taken. Not really a big deer but a good one. emoThumbsup
We killed five deer this weekend including a very nice heavy eight point that my nephew killed. It was a great looking pretty rack so he is mounting that one. emoThumbsup I had told Bbass I would take him a nice big doe. On Sunday I decided to go ahead and shoot one. I had a good looking big doe come by at 9:10, put the cross hairs on her and fired one off at about 75 yards. She fell...got up and ran. Fell again, got up again and ran for 20 more yards before going down this time for good. I sat there another hour hoping a big buck might be following her but none came. Got down to go look at her and was surprised to see 1.5 inch spikes. emoBang I do not like to shoot young spikes but this one should have lowered his ears, if he had I would not have shot. emoRolleyes At least it was a big young one and Bbass will enjoy the tender meat. I dropped it off to him on the way home. emoThumbsup
We had a good time and saw enough deer to keep it interesting. On the down side the deer were moving at night with the full moon and very little day movement.
