After getting stuck in the fog this morning I am looking for a GPS Fishfinder combo. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I'm pretty sure I would want an internal antenna model but tell me what you think. Thanks.

Both Lowrance and Humminbird have good working models. Just remember that they will get you there in the fog, but they cann't see floating objects.

Any opinions about internal vs external antenna? I am looking at something like the Humminbird 587 ci, 597 ci, or Lowerance 520.

One is just as good as the other I have a 332 on the console which is external and a 334 on the bow which is internal and one works as good as the other

Get you a good Humminbird 787c2 and don't ever look back. They are very good units and you can find good deals. Both HB and Lowrance are very functional but HB's are far more dependable and the factory is in Eufaula, AL and its easy to get on the phone with someone and get parts the next day.

Lowrance 520's suck. The map part is ok, but the sonar is very undependable. you never know if it will work right or not. I own a lcx 27c and a 520. The 27 is great !

Thank you everyone for all your help. Anyone interested, I found a Humminbird 788 ci at Anchor Express for $559.99 plus $9.99 shipping. Best deal I found.
