From time to time my GPS will restart when I crank the big engine. Doesn't happen all the time. Then I have to wait until it comes up again to see position and depth. It is a Lowrance HDS5 Any suggestions? emoScratch

Is your GPS wired through the main starting battery? If the battery is weak or has a weak cell there may not be enough current to run accessories while the big motor is starting. Another possibility is that there is a bad connection in the wiring and the vibrations from the motor start are cutting current periodically to the unit.

Had the battery tested. It was OK. Looks like my ground connection was not good. Took all fo the connections apart and reconnected them. Worked like a charm yesterday. Give it another try today. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I`ve been told that the older round glass type fuses will do that too. Supposedly the Blade type plastic looking fuse works better. I had the same issue with my 334c ,which had the glass fuse. When they installed the new hd-7 a few months back I`m not sure which fuse it has now but it hasn`t blinked off yet !
