Went out about 7:30 to fly fish for bream. Ross had never used a fly rod before. It was quite an adventure. We fished the bluff just across from the mouth of Soddy Creek. Even though there were no willow flys, we caught several fish. At least, Ross learned how much fun you can have with a fly rod and a popping bug.
After that, I went searching for some structure on the edge of the river channel by trolling dd22's. I found what I was looking for. By then, it was 11:00 and hot as blue blazes. Nevertheless, I wanted to fish a wind driven point.
Over the next 20 minutes we caught 4 bass and a drum of 5-6 lbs. The largest of the bass was the skinniest 18 in. bass I have ever seen.
Oh, did I mention that the wind-driven point was....RIP-RAP!!! YES, the lake has rip-rap too!!
The only bass I caught was the 18 incher. On a white/gray back deep little N. Ross caught 3 bass and the drum on a white/ lavender back 300 Bandit.
