Got a call last week from a gentleman that had been surfing the site and saw my phone number in a thread about needing a partner and Crappie fishing. After a short conversation we planned a trip out of Grasshopper for Friday.
We met at 8am with brisk winds and very chilly. I made sure Mr. Cleveland was still wanting to go with the elements as bad as they were, He assured me he did. We bundled up and headed out in his new 285 Stratos. We started off fishing small jigs around some structure in about 20ft on water. Mr. Cleveland caught one Bream, I had no hits. We moved and fished a little shallower and some more structure......nothing. We fished drops, creek channels yet located nothing that was hungry. We did locate bait fish in about 9ft to 15ft of water yet still nothing. We ran over to Sale Creek where Mr. Cleveland knew a little better. We fished every where from the boat docks to the creek channel and didn't catch any Crappie. We did manage to get an occasional Bream and a couple that was close to putting in the live well but we didn't. We concluded the day fishing a bluff area just North of Grasshopper. We landed a few more bream and the catch of the day, Two nice Smallmouth. We got back to the ramp and I got my 5 gallon bucket out and put the twelve Crappie from the livewell in it and headed home.emoScratch
I guess your wondering where the 12 Crappie came from! Mr. Cleveland had caught them Thursday evening and brought them to me. Needless to say I was very appreciative. I'll take Crappie anyway I can get them! Though it wasn't near as productive as what Mr. Cleveland had been having, we had some good fellowship and realized how small a world it really is. After talking, we realized we knew many of the same people and Mr. Cleveland worked and played Softball with my Dad. Looking forward to another trip.emoSmile
