This was suppose to be a fishing report. I left this morning on my way to the Suck Creek ramp emoFish . I figured since its only a couple of miles from the house, if the rain ran me off it wouldnt be such a wasted morning driving for long emoRain . Got to the foot of Signal and was sitting in traffic for 25 minutes emoDoh . Seems there issome kinda Bicycle race going onemoScratch . They all were turning toward Suck Mountain and had traffic backed way up SignalMtn. Finally got to go, didnt want to get behind a couple thousand bikes heading towards Suck Creek ramp, so I decided to just go toMarion Co. park :) . Its raining now pretty hard. About half way into the trip on I-24 my trailer starts shaking real bad :( . Pullof the interstateto find a huge knot on the side of one of the tires emoConfused . So I hobble to the Hale Town exit. Decide to get to Marion Co. Park, fish a little while and then getthe tire fixed. Its still pouring rain. Now I'm sitting at the ramp wondering why I wasnt in bed still. Its raining so hard that I decide that I better get the tire fixed, maybe when I get back I'll fish. Going towards Jasper on my way to WalMart to get a tire I see blue lights at a road crossing. What the ........ those dadgum bikes arecrossing my path again. Didnt get held up too long this time. Get to WalMart, dont have those size tires buddy. OK, so I have to get 2. Yeah, I know, how come I dont have a spareemoRolleyesBack towards Marion Co Park. Yep, stupid bikes everwhere, slow, fast, slow....... Its still pouring rain. What the hell is wrong with these people( seems like thousands)biking in the rain. Then it hits me, I'm wanting to get in a boat and fish in this weather and they probably think I'm crazy too. Well crap, the morning is shot. I'm just going to go back to Suck Creek ramp, put in and fish for a couple of hours. Get back on 27, see a few bikes here and there, still raining like crazy. Turn towards Suck Creek. There are bikes here and there going both ways emoScratch . Get to the ramp, pull down to launch. An SUV sitting right on the ramp at the water. No telling what these folks are doing and dont want to disturb anybodies lovers lane experience. I drive home, go in, give my wife a peck on the cheek and tell herhow damn nice it is to be home. Never got in the water today, but it was interesting.

There is no telling what may have happened today If I had actually got in the water. Thanks for cancelling the Crackerfest Jason. You probably saved me alot of money in some kinda boat repairs. emoWorthy

Ha! What a morning!! Should have had breakfast with kathy, doghouse and I.

The crappie are in our spot...drive up now and we'll load the boat.

I fished in the back yard this mornin since crackerfest was cancelled, didn't catch any but that because they haven't made it this far back to violette drive yet. Are you freaking crazy or what for going out today although the past couple of hours hasn't been bad but there's more coming....Sorry you had such a crappy morning...

Yeah, I hate those bike races! It's amazing the leaveway the law gives them on the road. Now I hear we're supposed to give them a 3 ft space when we pass them.

hey Flip, they have been talking about the 100 mile, 3 state bike race for about 2 months now....and the rain has been an on going thing around here.......you do have a TV at your house, don't ya????? where have you been.......the bikes are like the postman.....neither rain, snow, sleet or hail will stop um........ glad you got your trailer fixed....that is a good thing.......now, you can catch fishes.....FA

Well Al, I recon my wife is right. She says I have selective hearing. But whats the chance of EVERYWHERE I went, they were there? Besides, I have never been acused of having enough sense to stay out of the rain.

flip, that is a big bike race but it only happens one day of the year I think. It brings a lot of income to the Chattanooga area so like the regatta on the river downtown, it's something that we all should just live with the day of the race and be thankful that it's here.

99% of everybody will say just that Polo. The other 1% of us were stuck in non moving traffic for a LONG time. But I'm good with it, its a good thing for the city. emoCool

what bothers me about the bikes is they ride side by side when the law states that they are to ride single file.some days it just dont pay to get out of bed.glad your trailer is back on the road...emoUSA

Flip, Your right about thousands of bikes.... Try 2500 bikes from all over the world. I rode in it in 2005 and let me tell you crossing 3 states and mountains ( Suck Creek, Lookout and Sand) on a bike is a chore. I havent been the same since. We actually rode on 24 from 4th to the exit before Redbank Rd. They had traffic stopped everywhere that it was congested. The good thing is it's only once a year. At least you got to get out and ride around some. And be glad you was not at the MArion Co. park when the 64 mile riders came through, Marion Co. Park is a sag stop. Several hundred bikes at the entrance.
