Went out yesterday morning(11/26/12) to try and catch one of the big boys I've seen chasing does. Ok, actually I overslept and didn't get into my stand until 0830. After worrying about what first light action I may have missed, I finally settled in and started to somewhat focus on what I was doing. At 0900, I heard walking in the leaves to my left about 100 yds and spotted a lone mature doe walking steady down the ridge. After watching her for a while, I determined she was alone and decided to use the doe tag. I shot her with the 7mm mag and after a short run she went down. I continued to sit in the stand not expecting much. I even talked to 'Pumba'(Scott Powell) on the phone and while we were talking another doe walked along the same ridge as the first. A few minutes later a heard a commotion to my right and a buck chasing a doe came running wide open into a draw to my right and were out of sight before I could even tell how big he was.
Then about 30 min. later, I saw movement to my right again and this time it was a doe standing still with a 10 pointer moving in on her! I could hear him grunting and when he stepped towards her out of the thick stuff I fired on him at about 110 yds. He took off down the draw and up onto another ridge. After a while Scott arrived and after a short track we found the nice buck piled up! Needless to say it was a great morning to be out! I don't think there is a bad time of day to be out there at all right now emoBigsmile

Wade I hope you downed another at AEDC this past weekend

Unfortunately, no it was pretty brutal to us up there this time. 5 of us went and not a single one of us even saw a deer up there. There were only 24 deer killed on Friday and Saturday combined. Not sure how many Sunday becausen we left early. That is the first trip I've ever taken up there that I didn't see deer.
