Berkley 8 in. fishing pliers have three slits in the side, slightly differing widths. What are these used for?</p>

dont buy these they are garbage i had a pair lasted like 3 months wont even open and close now like Bbass said the spring mechanism is garbage

I don't know what the grooves are for, but they work good for bending back straightened hooks.
