I have had my Guide Wear for about 5 years now and it's starting to leak. Was wondering if anybody had experince with both suits ( 100 mph and Guide Wear) and which do you think is the best.

I haven't had any issues with mine leaking but call Cabela's and let them know. I had an older Dry Plus (lighter weight suit) that started leaking around the zipper on the jacket and they replaced it for the price of shipping. I have the Guidewear as well and it's going on my third year and I haven't had any issues at all with it, it's far exceeded my expectations and I use it all winter long for work and fishing as well. Never had the 100 mph but I have never really heard anyone that had them complain either.

I did buy a product they recommended to wash it in and a spray to apply after it is washed and dried. It is called NIKWAX. I have used it since day one when I have had to wash it. I have no idea if that makes any difference or not.

If you got 5 years out of your Guidewear it would be hard for me to change over to anything else. I got mine for Christmas and worn them several times since. I've also used a buddy's 100 mph. To me, the Guidewear is a lot more functional (pockets, pocket placement, features) than the 100 mph. Can't speak on the durability, but both are going to be made of very similar material, nylon and gore-tex. But again, if you were happy with the Guidewear and got 5 years out of them I'd stick with them.

I had one pair of Guidewear bibs which started leaking when they were 12 or 13 years old and the inside liner had been ripped. I replaced it three years ago and no leaks of any king. In my narrow opinion, Guidewear is the best fishng rainwear available and protects you completely while fishing and running- winter and summer.

Thanks guys, The only problem I have had with the Guide Wear other than it started leaking is the cuffs. I will probably stick with the Guide Wear. For 400 bucks I do want more than 5 years though.

Watch the sales. Cabelas puts them on much cheaper at certain times in the year. It's over $100 off.

Or drop close to $800 on some Simms gear just so you'll look like Palaniuk

I kinda have both suits......I bought a 100 mph suit a few years back. 2 months later, cabellas had a real big sale in the fall I think. I bought the insulated bibs of the guide wear and wear it with my bps suit top when needed. For what I have, the guide wear seems to be a little heavier built. One HUGE downfall to my Guidewear is there is no fly in mine - I think the new ones may have one, but not sure. This time of year that's a big deal to me, but you can decide. Both suits are comfortable and dry. I do hope they both last longer than 5 years though.

I can only speak for the Guidewear. I have ten years on my insulated bibs and standard jacket. I have non insulated bibs for summer wear that are only three years old. I bought them because they were on sale and I got them for 70.00 dollars. Back to the insulated bibs. Not only do I fish year round, despite the weather, I also use my insulated bibs and jacket for snowboarding. They take some major abuse in Utah, Montana and Colorado and have held up well. Guidewear is well made and will last if the garmentsare taken care of correctly. The warranties are by far the best if you should need it.

I bought the guidewear a couple months ago and they had a killer deal on it. I'm very pleased with mine. I'm glad to hear yours lasted so long

I called Cabelas and talked to a women there and was very helpful. She was out of Nebraska and the first thing she said was I have been to SP before at the cornbread festival (small world). They are going to send me a treatment kit to try and she said if that doesn't fix the problem to call her back. Nice Lady!

Anything Gortex will need to be treated with a water proofing treatment at some point. Try to avoid washing with regular detergent, this strips the weather proofing from the material a lot faster than it would normally on its own. You can buy special wash for Gortex that will make it last a lot longer.

I dont know about the current Guidewear but I find them kind of equal. I think it comes down to how you want your pockets etc.. For me, I preferred the inside liner in the crotch area which my current 100mph has. My older guidewear I had to drop the bibs to let nature happen. Fished a tourney on Clarks hill and speared waves all day in 50 degree weather. The guidewear allowed water in through the crotch...its what lead me to the 100mph suit. This is about 5 years ago so I don't know if the new Guidewear is different.

The new Guidewear does have a fly. I wasn't too sure about the new rubber seal around your rest. But over the past few weeks they have gotten a lotsofter. Andfor $279.00 I don't think you can touch them. Also Cabellasclothes & shoes all come with a life timeguarantee.
