Thought I'd let you know, lots of feeding gull activity just downstream from the nuke, and there was SERIOUS feeding for quite a while in the little bay just around the corner from the monitoring station. I didn't go over, but something was keeping the shad on the surface and the birds were diving like there was no tomorrow. There was also activity several times on the opposite bank of the river, upstream form the power lines. I hope this helps some of you! If the cats weren't cooperating so well today, I would have tried the areas out.

Thanks Eric, I've been eyeing a couple of those spots lately. I thought I had seen some striper activity a few weeks ago in those same general areas.

I'm hopefully going to be out tomorrow so this info comes right on time - Thanks a bunch EricM! I have seen those gulls hanging along the shallow shoreline just across the river from that slough below the powerlines for weeks now.

I also heard last week of visible evidence of rockfish crashing the surface in Dallas Bay near the dock just after you enter from the main channel....the angler at the ramp said it was early before the fog lifted and he could not get them to bite anything.

I caught my last batch of Crappie in that slough, I believe. Is that the one with the slalom course in the back? If so, that slough had TONS of baitfish in it. That was the only place I found any that day. Lots of Bass busting them in there, but I didnt see many good ones. But its hard to tell.

DHaun, I have noticed alot of activity in Dallas Bay too. A few times there were Stripers in there, but I was Crappie fishing and didnt chase.

You think the next couple of days getting warm will get the bait up on top?

DHaun since you got a couple on bluegill before do you think something like this will work on those stripes ?

if my "guide" doesn't make it for parksville sun afternoon jr and i may just make a trip to the nuke to chase stripe

Davo has tried some swimbaits like that with no success, but I guess if you threw it at them while they were busting the shad they may bite it.

I think a jerk bait or a small shad lure with a spinner would be best m17glock. The bluegill fish I caught basically had to be hit on the head with them as they were busting bait. The problem for me is finding them now. I scouted an hour or so this morning and saw no swirls near any gulls....nor did I see any birds feeding surfacing fish. Hopefully some "swirl" reports will be posted sometime soon :)

Glock, I threw one of those the day with RSimms with not a bite. I am a believer in the sassy shad type baits with spinner as thats what I caught fish on...I guess confidence in your lure cant hurt!

Here is the shad I hooked my fish on. THis is the exact body, but a different brand of head. The original is VERY similar. I see from the logo now, that it is a Mister Twister brand bait.

The other bait is one I picked up at SW the other day. I think it would be a winner too, gotta get out there and find out though

Spur if you throw that bait and don't get any takers it might could use some chartruse dipping dye on the tail. That seems to trigger strikes pretty regular.

THanks Dickey....Jk, I might try that too...on both of them

If those two on the bottom don't catch a stripe.... take them to the coast in the inner coastal waterways and the trout slam dance 'em. We caught 100 ea., each day using that exact lure.

I have caught a lot of trout in my day, but never with such a big lure. This thingis at least 3/4 oz, and 4" long. Maybe that catches just the bigger fish?

Gull report today: NOTHING. I was hoping to see some and convince Dickey to let me cast at them, but never saw the first flock working. We went all the way to the Nuke, and back. I hope its not over, I would love to get into some of them.
