CooperJD and I hit the G today.
We started out in Roseberry and fished some grass that Tater and I nailed in last week. Nothing, fish moving everywhere shad being knocked a mile in the air. We threw everything, no bites. We moved out to the channel mouth and started getting bit good on a spook and chug bug... missed a few, not good hits, and Coop got a 3 lber on a spook. Then MY ANGER LEVEL ABOUT GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK. A dude (and I know him and I can't wait to see him) in a Triton flew full throttle in between my boat and the grass line (10 yards) cutting coop's line, and wetting his pants. I can't wait to see John Doe at the gym tommorow.
Needless to say I had to leave, and we trailored to Mink Creek... fished the same boathouses everyone does, lost a nice fish at the boat on a swimming worm. We moved onto an offshore hump, and nailed a fat Largemouth, pictured below on a 10" worm rigged on a spot sticker... swimming. Left the area alone for this weekend, and headed for lunch at Waterfront.
Saw Curt Statley, local guide, at lunch, talked with him for a while... he landed over 20 bass most 3 lbs, with a couple of 5 lbers, flipping creature baits into main channel grass pockets. Being the kind of fisherman we are Coop and I hopped in the boat to do the same.... nothing much here, Coop lost a good fish in a clump of milfoil.
Decided to head back to a honey hole in South Sauty, and boated two fat 14 99/100 inch Largemouths.
Headed in and trailored to Honeycomb... by this time it was 4 and we were whooped, fished deep grass with jigs, worms and topwater, no bites... headed home pretty happy with the fish we found. We basically spent 70% of our time marked spots, and structure, and finding places for this weekend and our upcoming tourneys.
Jmax, is that detailed enough? emoLaugh
