Got a late start, arrived at BB Comer ramp at about 9:30. Started throwing a white Chatt-RR-bait ( Dixie Lures), I caught 6-7 on it, 1 keeper. Rob the bait has great movement, and I landed every fish that hit it. I then started pitching a jig ( also made by Dixie Lures) on the river drop and caught 7-8 more, 3 of them being keepers. Best fish was 3.2 pounds. Nice day on the water, not a whole lot of boat traffic either, but man it was hot.

Sweet ... glad to hear about days like those flip. That's the satisfaction I get, knowing that there's fish out there that will be a sucker for something that came off of my workbench emoLaugh .

Did you put a trailer/trailer hook on those?

RR .. you talkin' about the purchaser of your "something that came off my workbench" .. or the fish that ate it???

Just kidding you make some mighty nice looking stuff.

TT

Amen to the action on RR's chatterbaits... great movement.

Flip were the fish relating to irregularities in the grass? Where the hits hard, or just that little suck feeling?

The fish. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it TT! Seeing is how they have an IQ higher than that of mine and I can still build something they'll take a swing at.

No trailer hook. I put a spinnerbait twin tailed plastic trailer on it, white with about 1/2" of char spike it on the end. The fish were hitting it pretty hard, I saw most of them come out of the grass and grab it ( very clear water). They were laying behind clumps of grass facing the current, ambushing prey I recon. I couldnt get bit on it after about 10:30, they moved out to the drops or back under the mats.

Good report flip. I'm glad to hear that you are still getting out there some. When it's hot like this it can be a little uncomfortable. Glad to hear that the DL baits are working for you. I've been happy with the ones that I have, that's for sure.

The heat is bad enough, add about a trillion nats to the picture. If the fish hadnt bit every now and then it would have been miserable. I drank 3 quarts of gator ade out there. Yep Polo, I like all of Robs baits. I cant seem to beat the paint off of them.
