I havent been on the water since this trip, but I wanted to post it anyway. If im not mistaken it was around the first of August.

Fished the Stevenson area of Guntersville Lake. Started later on in the eve, was a quick trip after work. The grass was really thick in the backwater so I tried some "rat" fishing. No luck, I caught 2 12"in bass off of a Pop-R. Buddy of mine caught a couple 12"ers off of a 2 in. grub... I kept fishing the grass with a 10-in powerworm, that had been the ticket in the past, no luck today on it.

Started out of the creek and my buddy kept casting the grub. Not too long after that I saw him pulling on his pole. I thought he was hung so I asked him "are you hung on that stump over there?" Nope, Ive got one... sure enough, the biggest bass he has caught out of the Tenn. River came off a 2 in. grub...

I was happy to get skunked by my fishing partner that day!!!!

I like fishing up on Long Island during the spring when the spots pull up on it... You can absolutely catch them till your arm is sore. They built a really nice boat ramp at the bridge at stevenson, easier to use than coon or island creek ramps. ...

Tater,

My Mom's family is from Stevenson and the biggest bass I ever caught was on Sand Mtn in my friend's private lake, yet I have never fished Guntersville...except below Nickajack Dam. How do I get to the ramp in Stevenson? I know where 72 is but is there a landmark you can provide? Can you catch stripers in Guntersville?

Alright, when you get to Stevenson on 72. (of your going west bound) you will go thru the red light at the McDonalds and keep going west on 72. you will see the Stevenson exit ramp. Take that ramp and turn left, which will be AL Hwy 117 South. go over hwy 72 and keep going about 2 miles. Right before you get to the bridge you will see a pull of to the left. You cant miss the huge parking lot.

Hollar at me sometime and I can meet ya there...
