Has anyone heard of how the action is right now on the Big G? I have a long MLK weekend and was wondering if it was worth the gas.

There are a few being caught on cranks, jigs(green) and jerk baits. Mostly the bigger ones run in the 4 lb class. Just a couple you hear over that. From the sound of it the most action is coming on the main channel areas where there is grass break lines in the 10 to 12 feet range. The bass are holding on the grass lines. Royal shad and red were all the color info I could get out of anyone.:( Jmax

FJ, I will be out there Monday... I'll be fishing Mud Creek down to Goosepond. Give me a call if you get down there.

Bass are beginning to stage for there run onto the humps. Some are getting close to them, and there are fish that live on them year round... They are biting really good on jerkbaits (bomber long a, pointer 100s, etc...), jigs on grass lines, and as Jmax said, ratltraps. I would look for dormat grass, and not the new stuff yet. Typically on Guntersville you don't want to fish the old dingy stuff, but right now they seem to be holding there.

With that being said, as cold it is going to be this weekend who knows. I do think Monday will be a great day, as it is going to get to be almost 50 and sunny, the fish should move up and be more aggressive on the grasslines. Carry a crappie rod and jig, just in case the bass don't bite, the crappie probably will.
