Finally a report worth a report, Got started around 7 AM in the Sale Creek area this morning with one of my Ham Radio buddies, we'll call him Radio John 'till he decides upon a screen name. He had never been exposed to dock shooting so I gave him a few lessons and he was off to a great start, being a VERY fast learner. We started out on some deep structure which I thought would be easy for him to learn the technique on and it wasn't a problem. He was soon bringing them in with ease, emoThumbsup (I love it when a student pays attention!) We fished 'till around 2 PM and had a great day, he says one of his very best. We ended with 54 crappie, 1 lake perch, 3 white bass, 1 shellcracker, and 4 'gills. Water temp was about 75* in most places. Bait of the day was almost whatever you wanted to throw at them but the BG Outlaw Special seemed to catch a few more than other colors. Fish were caught at all depths and in water from 5' to 35' and the count was from a 3 to a 20. Most of the bigger fish were deeper. We had several over 13 with 2 being 13 3/4" plus but not quite 14". We fished deep structure and shallow docks. At the end of the day I took Radio John by Soddy Tackle and he's now starting to collect gear for dock shooting, emoTongue
On a side note, the wind made it almost impossible to shoot docks after around 10:30 with the water level up a little over summer pool and the waves it was a lost cause trying to get the jig more than just a few feet under the docks. Hope they let the water down a few inches and this WIND lets up. At least we don't have the wind here like Joplin, Mo. That's a total disaster,
