Picked Catfish1 up at Soddy Bait & Tackle this morning about 6:30 and headed for Sale Creek to find some crappie, emoScratch We got on the water about 7:30 and fished docks, blow downs, & bluffs 'till around 12:30.
It was a good crappie day the entire time, emoThumbsup emoSmile Fish seemed to bite the whole day. Not too much wind, not too many destroyers/waves and some good cloud cover and very mild temps. Water temp was 65* in most places. The crappie cooperated on BG's of bone and rainbow sparkle at a depth of around a 6 count, emoThumbsup Seemed that you did need to have the tail dipped in garlic/char dye although I did catch a couple without a tail light, emoSmile Total for the day was 64 crappie, emoBigsmile
Thanks to Soddy Bait & Tackle for stocking such a good supply/choice of Bobby Garlands which seemed to be what the crappie wanted today. We did hook a couple bass but they did the long line release before we got them to the boat although it didn't make much difference because we were trying to get Jim some freezer crappie, emoThumbsup Enjoyed fishing some new territory and even though you have to watch ole Jim with hitting things while trying to shoot docks, he is a blast to fish with, emoPoke (You can weight down my back seat anytime Jim emoPoke )
Met up with one of Jim's ole buddies and now have a new student of the "dock shoot technique" to teach, emoSmile which I'm looking forward to doing, emoThumbsup
