I took Jim Raulston from Signal Mtn out today for his first crappie dock shooting lesson, He did really well and caught several crappie and 5 or 6 'gills + a couple spaatts, one about 5 inches long, emoLaugh We had a good laugh on that little guy, emoBigsmile
We started about 8 AM and fished docks, wood, and bluffs and caught fish on all places but they came hard, one here and one there. Ole Jim showed me up pretty good today by catching the biggest crappie, a nice, healthy black crappie which was a little over 16 inches, emoToast We ended the day around 2:30 with 29 of which we kept 14. I brought 4 home for dinner and Jim is cleaning the other 10, emoThumbsup That 16 was Jim's PB on crappie and I was really happy for him.
I had one little 2 lb or so channel cat which we didn't want so I horsed him around 'till he spit the hook, didn't even get slime in the crappie boat, emoBigsmile
That's about the story and I'm headed for the dinner table to chow down on some mighty fine crappie eating, emoThumbsup emoHungry
Almost forgot, water temp was 63* just about everywhere and we caught fish on a 6 to a 10 count today mostly on BG double glitter and crystal shad. Did catch a couple on white SP with char tails.
