discovered Halo rods somewhat by accident and I'm starting to become a fast fan. currently I have a couple of "daylight" series rods in medium heavy for SB etc. and one "twilight" series rod in heavy for worms. thought about getting a backup jerkbait rod for winter and considered a 7ft Halo in medium action. I also see medium light available in casting and wondered if anyone might have any thoughts or recommendations. Also, I can't figure out the difference between the daylight and twilight series aside from the warranty and price . and advice and information would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

I don't know much about them but a few weeks ago I broke my favorite SB rod. I had a gift card at Academy so I used it to help buy one of those new skeet Reese rods. Used it twice and just didn't like it. So I returned it and went over to Pro Lures in Dalton and bought a Halo daylight for $59 bucks. So far I love this rod. Better than the one I broke. So the best part of the story is it was $100 buck cheaper than the skeet Reese I didn't like.

I bought my first Halo rod last week from Tackle Warehouse. They were running a sale on the extra heavy rod. First impressions are great. Well balanced and very light.

i've done some homework to some extent. opinions vary from "they are cheap Chinese crap rods" to "they're great for the price point etc." but looks like the difference between series is the warranty and maybe perhaps what is offered in the way of type, size, and action. I dunno, so far I like them alright. gonna call em..................maybe try and get a free T-shirt. wanted to pair a medium action casting rod up with my new Okuma reel for a backup JB rod for the winter. but, as it turns out, I had to send the Okuma back this week. was nice and smooth out of the box, but after about 6 or 7 cast it sounds and feels like a coffee grinder. maybe i got a dud? or maybe i got some Japanese crap to go with my Chinese crap.

I got the 7'11 extra heavy last year to frog fish with. Rod was very light and you could sling the frog a mile. First trip out, first blowup of the day, set the hook, rod snapps in two places. Call customer service the next day, send pictures and they had me a new rod in 3 days. Fished the rest of last year no problems. Rod sat in rod holder all this year untill the grass got up. 3rd trip with it this year set the hook on a 2lbers and rod snapped again. For $50.00 they will replace the rod, but i havent bothered yet. It was the twililght series

Last year on Neely Henry my partner who is sponsored by Halo broke 2 brand new rod within 20 minutes of each other. Both snapped on the hook set on small fish. I own the 7'11" crank bait rod and I love it.

Well that doesn't sound promising. Do you know if they were both twilight rods? I'm going to give mine a try this weekend. Fingers crossed that it doesn't blow up in my hands!

As I said above I like my Daylite rod for spinner baits and cranks baits... as for breaking... I caught about 18 fish last Saturday on that rod with two or three in the 5lb range.. no breaks. So far this year I have broken a Smoke, St Croix premier and two Shimano Cumaras. So they all will break. Funny thing is only the St Croix was broken in my bass boat... the others from my kayak. You would think it would be the other way around since it is hard to get leverage in the Kayak.

i called and spoke to a rep. there is a difference aside from warranty. i think the graphite module for the daylight was IM6 whereas the module for twilight was IM7. of course now they have a second series in both where the graphite module is even higher. he said they also went up in size on the micro guides due to fishing in cold weather. apparently the guides were so small they would ice over. i could tell there was no chance of a free T-shirt, and then i realized the rod butt was not short like my All Star JB rod, so i'm thinking maybe a denali or cashion perhaps. I know nothing about either one. I still like Halo rods however.
