Fished that area many times! Would like a copy of those maps they were using if anyone knows where I can get one. Also, have had aton of trouble finding any info/pictures of the old Guild/New Hope communities on Nickajack. To me, that is ironic because the New dam wasn't completed until the mid 1960s. One would think that many photos would be available.

Very cool post. I caught the tail end of this on Good morning Chattanooga this morning. I too would like to see some what the new hope area looked like before they flooded.

I had someone forward me some maps from before they flooded the lake. It was very interesting stuff. Ill see if I can find it.

That is history that's so easy to forget. I like seeing and reading about history like the town of Harrison and others things before the lake was formed. that's a great picture every time I fish around I think of what it must have been like to live during those times.

I have spent hours looking through the photos on this site. Photos up until the flood gates were closed on the dam in the early 40's shows how Chattanooga looked during the Civil War and before street levels were raised to create what is now known as Underground Chattanooga. I'm not sure when the street levels were raised it was sometime before the dam was built to keep the streets from flooding downtown.
