Hard to close Rod lockers

I recently bought a boat and their are several of the compartments that are very hard to close. It just had new carpet installed does the hinges need adjusted or try to trim some of the carpet off the sides.

If it just had new carpet installed just leave it as is. The carpet will wear down to where the lids will close properly. If you go and trim the carpet once it wears down they won't seal as good.

... yea, I just had new carpet put on and I about pull my arms off trying to open the hatches! It's always something!

How long does it take to break in or whatever because like said before you will about break your arm opening them.
