Been fishing a couple times this week and havent gotten a bite, havent even graphed any fish, been in about 3 to 12 feet of water around logs, stumps and such, havent fished for bass before, or crappies in open water either. Im gonna try some of those assasin lures?? Any help??

RE: Harrison Bay

Do you have a map of the lake? If I were you I would fish for crappies in 3-7 feet of water in sloughs that have stumps in them. Once you catch one, throw to the same area many times as often there will be bunches hanging around on a particular stump or brushpile. They may also be on docks in shallow water too. When fishing with the panfish assassins use a 1/32oz jig head and do not jig the jig at all. Use 4-6 lb test line and bring it in with a slow pull, as slow as you can stand to reel it in. If you can dye the tip of an assassin with chartreuse it will help. Try early and late as the low light time of day seems to be the best time of day to get the fish really biting. Many of the sloughs in Harrson bay state park have lots of stumps. Huss Lowe slough, Hideout slough and Graveyard sloughs all have lots of stumps in them, they all should have good crappies in them.

try shallow pockets off the channel for bass, red rattle trap, watermelon sinko, chart/ white spinnerbait ... flats and shallow cover have been working pretty well for me. good luck!

Got into quite a few working a spook WED on the dam side of Patten Isl. They weren't exactly EXPLODING on it, but we did manage to coax a few to the boat...not much size, but fun topwater activity nonetheless.emoThumbsup
